The Nike Flyknit Berlin Experience

posted by on 13/02/2014

Last week, I was privileged enough to be invited to experience the launch of Nike’s latest addition to the Flyknit lineage, the Flyknit Lunar 2. The launch of the new shoe coincided with the unveiling of the new Nike Brand Experience store, located in the heart of Berlin. Yep that’s right, the kind folks at Nike were kind enough to send us out to the German capital for an exclusive preview of the store followed by an eventful run through the twilight city to trial the new running sneakers. Hop on after the cut.

Something that will last, suit all your needs, and still have you looking good as you fight the winter in style. Today, we present MA.STRUM; a brand whose focus lies solely on producing high quality, technical clothing that can serve the weather in any given environment. We got asked by MA.STRUM to put some of their key AW13 pieces to the test in a day out in the grey, wet and windy city.

Two Angle SS14

Man what a quiet period, it’s that time of the year where everyone’s a little burnt out and rejoicing in the fact that we have a few days off. For us, it’s time to start shooting content again after letting November and early December day job routines win the never-ending battle of balance. So it’s time to share what we’ve been up to behind-the-scenes, 2013 has been a great year in terms of repositioning Y&Y from a ‘blog’ to a content led platform. Screw your regurgitated blog nonsense. We prefer creating our own which is way more enjoyable.

Dr. Martens – Factory Visit

On a dreary British day, or any other day for that matter, Northamptonshire may not appeal to most Londoners who are more used to the hustle and bustle of the city. However I discovered that there is more to Northamptonshire than first meets the eye and that it is arguably the home of British shoemaking. It is simple really, follow the sounds of clicking, buzzing and whirring and you will end up at the surprising birth place of a longstanding cultural British icon, the home of Dr. Martens.

NFL London – #gearupforfootball

posted by on 21/10/2013

NFL returns to London for the 2nd time in 3o days with home team Jacksonsville Jaguars taking on the San Francisco 49ers. As part of the build up to the game tomorrow, Nike UK tasked us with challenge to create an editorial piece around #gearupforfootball so instantly we took the route of a player’s mental/physical battle to prepare for game day. Location-wise, London is restrictive as the sport is still fairly new over here so finding an American Football field in London is near impossible. We opted for track and gym locations as NFL athletes are probably the most rigorous with their routines and have to be in top shape. It’s way more brutal than Rugby, even though you’re wearing pads and helmets – you’ll get clattered which makes me want to play even more haha. After the cut, have a gander at what we’ve come up with. Dipo & Adam taking over the words.

This is England

Boom. Time for another editorial from us, it’s been a whole minute since we’ve done a project of our own – the concept came to life after a random Y&Y meet-up over dimsum in Southbank. We wanted to do something solely with British brands and more than your average, standing on the street looking pensive hipster nonsense. The title will remind you of the film, our looks and chosen models will make you think otherwise. A stark contrast of reality, all shot around Upton Park. Right, I’ll leave it there as Aaron is going to take over after the cut with the narrative.

Pocket Square Clothing

It has been a while since Derek and I dropped a big fashion post on you, so what better time to treat you all than during London Fashion Week. For this one we have teamed up with a great brand that you may or may not be familiar with, Pocket Square Clothing. Dedicated to both timeless and contemporary design, PSC does not limit it self to just the accessory in its title with a range of bow ties and neck ties vast enough to please even the fussiest of customer. It is their attention to detail and great eye for design, be it minimalist or extravagant, that ultimately shines through in the quality of every individual piece that they make. Because of this, it was easy for Derek and I to put together pocket square focused looks. Read on and see exactly what we put together.
