It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane ride felt extremely long. Probably due to the fact that we were seated apart and I was placed in the middle of a family who proceeded to talk and pass tings across me but that’s another story) over to Florida was required as the ship was to set sail from Port Canaveral just outside of Orlando.
Everyone needs a holiday every so often. Of course, that ‘holiday’ can come in many forms, but I guess the key theme is that of a break from the norm. To do something different, to relax, to turn up, and to unwind. A short holiday I had this year was to Marrakech, and asides from being a much needed break from the norm and break away from the stresses of work I was going through, it was the chance to explore somewhere completely different and new to what I ever have before. Though the trip was short, it ended up being somewhere that left an imprint on me – visually and culturally. I took a few shots on the short trip and have a few recommendations for anyone thinking to check our the Moroccan city.
Layovers/stop offs during a trip can sometimes be lengthy. Lengthy enough to actually go out and explore? Probably not. But on a rare occasion it can happen. That rarity meaning caught in a hurricane on a cruise ship in the Atlantic Ocean off of the Carolina coast, and having to turn back around to where you started – New York City. A story for the grandkids, but for now, here’s a shorter story of two half-day stop offs in NYC either side of a cruise from hell.
A great deal of beauty exists on our planet, often it can be found within communities and within the individuals that they’re made up of. Amongst all the talk surrounding a series of recent tragedies and the media spectacle that ensued, one wonderful quote regularly reappeared, “I am always comforted by realising that there are still so many helpers – so many caring people in this world.” We too often forget that the majority of people we share this planet with are good willed and want many of the same simple things from this journey of being and becoming that we call life as we do. I’m reminded of this when I look back at all of the incredible people I came across in Myanmar, while in some aspects our lives are very different, we undeniably shared simple values and passions. Their positivity and joy was inspiring, and hopefully I can pass that light on to you with this post.
Over the years, Ibiza has made a name for itself in the nightlife scene across the world. If you want the big clubs, the hot weather and a very unique nightlife experience, Ibiza is the place to go. That is, of course, if you have circa £15 to spend on a bottle of beer. So, you have to wonder, does Ibiza have anything else to offer other than the raving, shuffling and gurning jaws? In a similar fashion to our recent trip to Mallorca, holiday experts On the Beach wanted to show us another side to this popular holiday destination. In 48 hours I managed to see just how beautiful this island is.
There’s more than one side to every story. If you want the full picture, you need to know more than one side. You need to see more than one side and you need to experience them. Only then can you put the pieces together. Travel is becoming a big passion of ours here at Y&Y, whether we’re exploring Asia, visiting spectacular European cities, or even doing something a bit more spontaneous, we love to document our journeys and tell a story. On The Beach is one of the UK’s leading holiday providers, sending over a million people to sunny locations across Europe every year. One of their most popular destinations is Mallorca. A beautiful island in the Spanish Mediterranean with it all to offer. We were invited to experience Mallorca at a 4* hotel in the party capital of the island. The BH Mallorca was our base in the heart of Magaluf and we set out to discover the full story of this Spanish island.
Now this is a story all about how my life got flipped-turned upside down and i’d like to take a minute just sit right there i’ll tell you how I my weekend in Monaco had me floating in the air. Please excuse that cheesy start to the story but I wanted to start it off a little different. Any who as alluded to in the first sentence I have recently been to Monaco courtesy of the great people over at G.H.Mumm Champagne. This trip though was no ordinary trip because for those who don’t know Mumm are one of the sponsors of Formula One otherwise known as F1. Why does this matter? Well this particular weekend trip would enable me to experience my first ever live Grand Prix at one of the most iconic circuits in the world. Not too bad for a guy who sits behind a screen writing features in spare time right? Apologies in advance if the following induces mass jealousy, envy and awe but this was for journalistic purposes, I done it for you guys, honest! haha.
