When Liam Neeson’s Taken arrived in 2008, nobody could have predicted that it would go on to earn over $226 million worldwide. The film reinvented Neeson as an action movie star, and 2010’s The A-Team only gave further credence to that fact. It’s no wonder that many are looking forward to Taken 2 later this year, but in the meantime Neeson has reunited with The A-Team director Joe Carnahan for The Grey, a genre transcendent film which benefits much from the realistic environment it plunges its characters into. Read on for my spoiler-free review.

I’ve been a bit quiet on the blog for a reason, work has been fairly hectic for the past week with this project. Future Stylist is basically a X-factor/Eurovision-esque competition to find the best up and coming stylist; a knock-out competition with the winner purely selected by ASOS facebook fans. This year, the competition is a hell of a lot bigger (mainly because I’m working on it, duh), more contestants, more prizes and much much more! The bloggers have been handpicked by the ASOS editorial team from a shortlist that I put together. The competition features a few of the best up and coming bloggers-come-stylists; including the likes of Kani from KisforKani, Audrey of BeFrassy and more. Hop on after the cut to see their Round 1 looks.

One definition of power is ‘a measurement of an entity’s ability to control its environment’. Power manifests itself in many forms; for J. Edgar Hoover, secrets were power, and he amassed much of it during his 48-year career. It’s a concept that is at the heart of Clint Eastwood’s latest, a biopic on the infamous founder of the FBI. Eastwood is no stranger to depicting well-known figures on screen, with 2009’s Nelson Mandela biopic Invictus an impressive credit in a bulging filmography. Is J. Edgar another notable notch for Eastwood? Read on for more.

HAHAHA I am cracking up at the Shiznit‘s brutal honesty here with the Oscar nominated movies‘ posters. In the same vein as If Logos Were Honest, takes a tongue-in-cheek look at some of this year’s ludicrous nominations. They’ve photoshopped the titles and taglines so they’re a little bit more honest about the film’s content. Think my favourite has to be The Help one, you’ll have to hop on after the cut to see it!

I was originally going to drop this as a feature on the Henri Lloyd collection that DJB is rocking but felt it’d use it to hype up something that we have in the works. I feel sometimes the site centres around Yang, DJB and I so I’m hoping this new idea that I came up will change things. Honestly love chilling with the Y&Y family – we’ve all got such diverse backgrounds and career paths so the conversations are never dry. More on the reverse.

There are many points in life where you have to evaluate one’s self. We all are guilty of pointing out the flaws in other people and if we’re honest with ourselves it’s quite easy to spot the wrong doings and bad points of a fellow peer. However when posed the task of self assessment we suddenly have nothing to say. Ugliness is an unattractive quality but what is important to remember is that ugly begins with U so unless we check ourselves and make sure we are not portraying the same ugly traits we point out in other people we have no right to cast judgement on others.

As some of you may or may not know, the Australian Open began last week. I’ve been keeping up to date with the tournament on twitter, and have to say that the #AusOpen is without question the most fan orientated slam. Wimbledon take note.
