I don’t know about you but I love breakfast. When I wake up in the morning though I rarely have time for more than a bowl of cereal and a banana, the opportunity to eat out then is always a delight. When visiting No.11 Pimlico Road the delights don’t stop at the food, the newly refurbished Chelsea space makes for a fabulous experience from dawn into dusk.
My initial feeling as I walked through the door and off of the cold street was of homeliness, the interior is so warm and inviting it just beckons you in. Try not to be intimidated by the affluent area, the locals may drive cars that cost more than your home but I was pleasantly greeted by a smiling team and a much needed coffee soon after. Taking a seat in the corner I enjoyed the quiet and calming morning atmosphere, an abundance of natural light shone through the windows to bring all the carefully picked decor to life and I comfortably enjoyed what was a great cup of coffee.
No. 11 describes itself as, ‘An all-day place, not quite bar, not quite restaurant,’ and this certainly seems to be the case. Open from 8am to midnight, the bar serves alcohol all day, so if it’s a champagne breakfast you fancy or a Bloody Mary with your scrambled eggs that you’re after then you’ve come to the right place. I opted for a non-alcoholic drink (water in fact) but that’s one of the great things about the place, there’s something for everyone. Whether you want to relax with a book after work, meet with someone regarding business, share a drink with some friends or just take your mum for some much deserved grub, No. 11 Pimlico Road manages to make everyone feel comfortable.
With both upstairs and downstairs areas, there’s a lot of space and it is all furnished beautifully, the attention to detail is apparent and you get the feeling that a lot of love has gone into the interior. Upstairs a large concealed screen and projector offers great potential for movie nights or business presentations. Even the glasses that you drink from have been carefully picked and balls of ice with a shaving of citrus frozen into them are a charming little addition to your drink.
Oh, and the breakfast… how could I forget? Well my local greasy cafe (as much as I love it) doesn’t serve my favourite Eggs Benedict and so I knew almost instantly what I was going to be eating. It exceeded all expectations and I couldn’t help but wonder how good the rest of the breakfast menu is. Pastries, porridge, pancakes and cooked breakfasts of every kind are all available on a mouth watering menu that has again been designed with great thought and care.
As you can probably guess, I found breakfast at No. 11 Pimlico Road very pleasing. There was, in my mind, nothing to dislike and even the prices, considering the area, were not ridiculously expensive. So be it day or night, take a visit, plonk yourself in a chair and lose a few hours, you won’t regret it.
