H&M x Brick Lane Bikes Collection

posted by on 26/03/2013

You’ve already seen most of these photographs on the last site, sadly this piece of content had a time limit on it since the limited collection came out a few weeks ago. We wanted to show you how our own styled shoots will translate across to this new layout in future. So here’s our H&M x Brick Lane Bikes shoot from a couple weeks back, looks much sexier on here as opposed to the traditional blog format, right? RIGHT?

So as you all may know already, H&M – the kings of collaboration in the past few years have done it again with their capsule men’s collection for Brick Lane Bikes. It embodies the full spirit of modern urban cycling with fashion, function and heritage of cycling. It’s all the technical details that really stand out for me; the little detailing at the very bottom of the chinos, water repellent jackets that transform into a backpack instantly.

The 11-piece collection dropped earlier this week, featuring jackets, blazers, vintage-inspried bike jerseys, caps and more. So what have we done? We’ve taken the collection and given it our own little spin. Styled by a talented new member of the family and modelled by a keen cycle enthusiast friend of ours.

Without further ado, I’d like to introduce the newest member of the Y&Y family, Nike Forrest. She’s a stylist, visual merchandiser and an all round creative being that’ll be helping us with our style features. I’ll leave Nike to talk more about the shoot. Enjoy the imagery.

Nike: You can see how the outfit ties in together but still shows the jacket as a key piece. I’m a big fan of contrast and juxtaposition, so I thought it would be nice to to place the electric blue wooly t-shirt against a brown panelled background. Although it was freezing and dull on the day, I was secretly glad, as it allowed the pieces to show how functional they are as well fashionable. It’s important for cyclists to be seen on the road, especially when its dark and foggy, and the collection caters to those important requirements. Very exciting collaboration, and fun to shoot.

Shop the collection now. It’ll sell out fast so you may have to head out to one of the key stores or BLB’s pop-up on Bricklane.
