Another one!? Yes! John Legend is without a doubt one of my favourite singers, his lyricism and vocal delivery is second to none. If anyone has his contact details, swing them my way - I want him to sing at my wedding next year haha. Alas, I digress - John headed back to his university to give the speech at Penn’s 258th Commencement. Utterly brilliant speech taking a different angle to the usual: “The key to success, the key to happiness is to open your heart to love.” A R&B singer talking about love, corny right? In 1924, two guys by the names of Harry B. Parkinson and Frank Miller shot a short documentary called “Wonderful London”. Today in 2014 a film-maker Simon Smith, spent the last few months recapturing the city exactly as the 19th century duo did, visiting each location and standing in exactly the same spots they did. Here Simon has blended the two documentaries together to create what he calls a “window through time”. London offers so much history and though its common knowledge, it’s nice to see how much of it has been preserved… there are moments where the docs look identical. I suppose props also go to Simon for executing this so well too. Watch Wonderful London V2 after the break.

It’s such a rarity to come across a brand that produces their collection in London, heck even manufacturing in the UK is a rarity nowadays. Percival Menswear pride themselves on producing as much of their collections in the UK, often working with manufacturers based in the London area. This short film takes a look at one of the smaller factories in East London, Mr. Khan and his team have been making Percival clothing for a couple years now. Here’s some Monday morning inspiration that I stumbled upon a few days back, funnily enough it’s great content created by a church. Elevation Church’s short film entitled ‘Defining a Prodigy‘ looks at why you get up in the morning/stay up extra late at nigh doing what you do. Passion. The fuel for your dreams. What will you do this week? Watching this clip has been a wake-up call to get things back into gear on the site. With our day jobs becoming more and more demanding, it’s easy to let Y&Y slip under the radar but all we need to do is take a step back and realise it was the reason we have the job in the first place.

Everyone has a story - not just humans, even brands. Bacardí is a renowned name across the globe for its rum but much of its history is unknown. With over 150 years of history behind them the cuban family opens its archives to tell the brand’s heritage and roots through their new advertising campaign. The story takes us back to 1862 in Cuba where the journey has taken them through earthquakes, fire, wars and revolutions; to U.S. Prohibition and being exiled from Cuba to what it is today.

On the aptly fitting 4/20 (or, Easter Sunday to most) I headed to the London screening of Newlyweeds, the dope stoners-come-love film written and directed by newcomer Shaka King and co-produced by The Wire actor Gbenga Akinnagbe. Newlyweeds is a hilarious, unpredictable Brooklyn tale of a tryst between the three characters - Lyle, Nina…and Mary Jane.

Let Us Roam is an ongoing short film series supported by Leica Camera. The series features stories about photographers, artists, film makers and musicians who have come up through skateboarding culture. I can’t really give you the jibber jabber on the culture as my relationship with it goes as far as Tony Hawk’s Underground. That game did gas me to the point where I spent all birthday money on a board and protective pads to support me. I fell over once and never stepped foot on it again. First film in the series focuses on Ray Barbee, a legendary skateboarder with a multitude of skills in music and photography which came through skateboarding. If you’re passionate about creativity, then watch after the cut - he touches base on the topics on and how to relay his values onto his children.

Prepare to be visually mind-blown, this is definitely one of the most beautifully shot interviews I’ve ever seen. The content is even better, it’s deep and definitely resonates with me at this very moment in time. I’ve been posting Salomon’s work on here for a good few years now, it’s awe-inspiring and always well executed so it’s nice to get a little insight into his creative process, starting a family, life as an artist and the constant battle of identity and existence. His honesty and authenticity really shines through in this piece with TheMusicBed who are a music licensing website. More on the reverse.

&OtherStories is H&M’s latest sub-brand, it’s only been around for a year or so and already killing it with it’s visual direction and design aesthetic. It’s a more trendy, chic version of Cos solely for women. The Scandinavian aesthetic oozes minimalism and avant garde cuts with clever visual merchandising thats cohesive throughout all the physical and digital platforms. Brand messaging done right. For their latest campaign, they’ve released a short film by director Wendy McColm which features French blogger/Alexa Chung Jeanne Damas humorously portray the tormented soul of the self-indulgent ‘Bohemian’ who can’t decide what to wear.
