On Thursday, we ventured into Dalston for Monkey Shoulder’s social club event. At MC Motors (an industrial warehouse), the whisky brand provided cocktail bootcamp, movie rooms, vintage gaming, rebel bingo and of course Monkey Shoulder cocktails that knew know limits. More after the break.

If you have any spare time in the next two days, I suggest you head down to Beach London on Cheshire Street to check out their latest exhibition. It’s collaboration between themselves and publication 56+1 showcasing the work of an inspiring set of graduate illustrators. I checked it out on launch night - it’s a wonderful concept where each artist asks the next one a question that they’ll have to answer in the form of an illustration. Beach London got things started with the first question - If you could build anything, what would you build?. 56+1 is a series of publications, each one a collaboration chosen by Fivefootsix. For each issue, we choose a theme or concept that allows them to showcase the creative talent of an artist, writer or photographer that inspires them. Hop on after the cut.

I have always been fascinated by the wonders of cinema and along with my more recent interest in the world of fashion, this caught my eye as a must see. I feel I have an understanding, even if basic, of most of the elements that make up a film but I think costume is very often overlooked. I highlighted the choice of clothing in recent hit Lawless for my very first Yin & Yang post a month or so ago, looking at how it can inspire every day fashion choices. If I am honest though this was the first time I had really taken any significant notice of the costume choice in a film, so this exhibition was a great opportunity to expand my understanding.

Boom. It’s great to see creative movements in around London that are innovating and getting recognised. People talk of NYC, Berlin and Paris being the hotspots for these type of movements on the rise but I think we’re not doing too bad ourselves. Folks need to stop with the grass is greener on the other side talks when they return from holiday - London’s amazing. Anywho, Damola and the family over at the Capture Collective want YOU to get involved in their latest project. From November 27th through November 29^th, The Miumiu-London, a private women’s club, will make its debut in the Café Royal on Regent Street, London. Recently restored to its former glory and reopened for the first time on this occasion, the Café Royal becomes the central meeting point for Miu Miu members embarking on a three-day succession of varied activities celebrating various aspects of Miu Miu femininity. Members and their guests will have exclusive access to a new shopping experience, along with the opportunity to preview and purchase the Resort and Spring / Summer 2013 collections. Highlights include collaborations with Vivienne Westwood and Stephen Jones, both of whom created special limited edition products for the occasion. All proceeds from the sale of these items will be generously donated to the charities Cool Earth and Macmillan Cancer Support respectfully. The display cases of Stephen Jones will feature hats, made from the resort 2013 collection while sculptures of Joe Rush were specially created for the showcase of Vivienne Westwood’s window. The famed film production designer, Caroline Smith, oversaw the décor of the interiors, while Cathy Edwards styled the Miu Miu collections and special product for The-MiuMiu-London.

Or Rosy Nicholas‘ debut solo exhibition ‘If I should Die Tonight’ at the JaguarShoes Collective. Tattooists, music enthusiasts, hipsters and Hells Angels made up just some of the crowd at the launch of Ami James and Huey Morgan’s new tattoo studio in Notting Hill. Those of you who are familiar with hit television series Miami Ink and New York Ink may know Ami James as the charming, bald headed, hard man with an exceptional tattooing ability. While Huey Morgan has stood as frontman of band, Fun Lovin’ Criminals, for almost twenty years. The two long term friends have come together in this joint venture to open LoveHate Social Club and if the launch party is anything to go by, it is going to be one hell of a fun ride.
