The brand from Japan has hit us all in the face once again with a superb lineup of jeans and denim shirts. Great fits, great styles, great quality. Uniqlo have made selvedge more comfortable than ever, working hard on a brand new stretchy fabric that means you can look effortlessly cool in comfortable jeans that didn’t hurt the bank. And when I say that, I mean it. These beauties will set you back a mere £35. For men’s jeans these days, that is nothing. I got my hands on the slim fit dark selvedge (it’s not everyday skinny jeans) and they are wonderful. Check out some styles after the cut and be sure to pick up a pair in store.

“Shokunin (Sho-koo-neen) is a Japanese word used to describe an individual that aspires to become a master in their particular craft or art form,” writes filmmaker Ryan Bush. Which is precisely what this film is about. I never thought it possible for me to be captivated by a man describing his love of Bonsai but his passion is just incredible and seeing someone take the time to truly master an art of any form is inspiring. Woah… the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers of my childhood just got a dark and gritty makeover to say the least. If you were born any time around 1992, like myself, you’ll be familiar with all the old rangers mentioned in this and a sense of nostalgia will likely flood your brain. Imagine the Power Rangers set in a Bladerunner like world and you have this short film. There’s only one thing to say, it’s morphin’ time!

Attention all creators of art, online arts publishing company Gitoon have partnered with University College Hospital to give you the opportunity to have your work displayed at a huge exhibition in April. All you need to do is submit a piece of work on their platform by 1st March and then vote for 10 other submissions to enter. Entering is free and there aren’t any restrictions on what you submit, as long as it’s visual and in keeping with the theme of ‘spring’… go nuts. More after the break.

LA based collective NAVIGATE recently launched their latest project ‘Updating Philosophies’, a short piece featuring Brooklyn based visual artist: Cernesto – as he shares his story. Cernesto’s work stemmed from his love for graffiti, he now produces murals and other pieces of art for exhibits all over the world. NAVIGATE’s short film focuses on the art behind how a piece of work is created, the process. I love how these guys have presented the concept of storytelling here and the video is shot really well. Le Gouffre (“The Gulf”) is an inspiring tale about friendship, sacrifice and conquering the impossible. It is a beautifully animated short film by Carl Beauchemin, Thomas Chrétien, and David Forest at Lightning Boy Studio, telling the tale of two friends forced to build a bridge to cross a canyon on their outdoor adventure. They take on the challenge, and what follows is a wonderful tale. A story of building a bridge has never been so moving. Added to the fact that the film was funded through kickstarter, where they managed to raise almost five times their original goal. I don’t want to give away anymore, just watch the film after the cut.

We do like to post a bit of everything on the blog. As a source of daily inspiration, that should really know no limits. With that being said, I thought I’d share a brilliant game I have stumbled across on my iPad. Is this the most beautiful iOS game ever? Potentially. Alto’s Adventure is a new game on iOS that is both visually stunning and great fun to play. The game is a snowboarding adventure presented in amazing visuals, as you slide, jump and backflip your way down the never-ending mountain collecting your Lama, coins and other boosts. The game mechanism is similar to many others out there, but what sets Alto’s Adventure apart is the captivating graphics and accompanying audio. You’ll be playing all day.
