From the moment I clicked play on this video I could not look away for I was lost in a combination of wonder and bemusement. I’m sure most of you have noticed the folks at VSCO actively promoting their new Commuter filter pack which ties in with the launch of San Fran denim brand Levi’s new season Commuter collection. The campaign takes a transmedia storytelling approach where photographers were asked to share their commute with the VSCO curating the selection site here. On top of all engaging user-generated content through the photography platform, Levi’s have created a series of short films about creative thinkers and makers who commute to work by bike. It’s beautifully filmed and ties in perfectly with the rest of the campaign. Read on.

I’m usually all about art direction and beautifully made films but this one isn’t visually the best but it’s content and simple storyline well resonate with most of us. It’s written by Charlene deGuzmann who also stars in this very short movie called I Forgot My Phone. In the film, she makes a compelling case for the dangers of over using our smart phones. We’ve turned into robots and it’s affecting the way we experience life, engage in conversations and our relationships. I know I have a problem, FOMO does get the better of me. Are you the annoying friend that’s always on their phone or the friend that tries to keep the conversation flowing? Watch after the cut.

The point in your life at which you began panicking about dreams unfulfilled and, and paths not gone down used to be the sole reserve of 40 something old men, who would hastily decided that the only way to fix their current state was to replace their wives and cars with newer younger versions, only to realise a few months down the road that those things which they saw as signs of their impending demise from their peak, were actually the very things that fuelled their souls.

Working in Swoosh-land with Yin, it’s easy for Just Do It to become more of an acronym or a campaign name than a movement on a day-to-day level when you’re in the thick of it. This morning’s unveiling of Nike’s global TV ad, ‘Possibilities’ was a refreshing reminder of what Just Do It can represent. It the heart of it, Nike’s 25 year old slogan is about pushing ourselves to the limits; not talking about it, quite simply - just doing it.

It’s always a nice change to come across something innovative in an industry that can, at times, feel boxed in by a brick wall. YrStore, one of Boxpark’s latest pop-up shops, has climbed over those neatly stacked pile of bricks and has shown us how technology and fashion can combine to make buying a t-shirt covered in fries and cats (if that’s something that interests you) an easy and enjoyable experience. Last Thursday Yin and I had the pleasure of visiting the YrStore pop-up shop in Boxpark for a blogger takeover event, as part of the O2 Campus Party. Check out our thoughts after the jump.

This photography series by Malaysian photographer Weilun Chong immediately struck me as interesting. Through a restricted view and a sense of claustrophobia, each photograph feels so personal and intimate. Chong has shot a generally unobtainable view of people but with restrictions, making the images obtrusive and almost voyeuristic. I love the way photography can capture a great deal of emotion and thought within a face but here the mystery of an often obscured face creates a feeling of wonder. His subjects straddle a void between the stationary platform and a high speed train, in this brief moment they become vulnerable to the scrutiny of the camera. Each photograph leaves you questioning what is either side of the restricted point of view, highlighting and giving importance to what is beyond the four edges of an image.
