The Blog Daily inspiration
Everyone needs a holiday every so often. Of course, that ‘holiday’ can come in many forms, but I guess the key theme is that of a break from the norm. To do something different, to relax, to turn up, and to unwind. A short holiday I had this year was to Marrakech, and asides from […]

To mark the launch of their Special K Cracker crisps Kellogg’s took to Soho to open an experimental pop-up store where customers exchange tweets rather than money for their new product. Located on Meard Street The Tweet Shop boasts a snacking area and a community board, which is actually a screen with a live feed of the buzz being created in real time. The ingenious campaign is topped off with “Special K girls” in the signature red dresses that have become synonymous with the brand, who encourage customers to use the hashtag #tweetshop to post a review or comment in return for a free bag of crisps that would normally retail for 60p. Smart idea.

Following Fashion Week in New York, London, Milan and Paris you may think it impossible to find style inspiration from anywhere other than the runways of the four fashion capitals. So when I ventured to Westfield’s Vue Cinema to watch the loveable rogues Tom Hardy, Shia LaBeouf, and Gary Oldman battle it out with detestable Guy Pearce to bootleg alcohol during 1920’s prohibition in Virginia, the last thing I expected to find was a handful of recent trends being sported by the cast.

Well well well, here I am posting about another self-improvement scheme that I’ve registered up for. The last one, the British 10k didn’t workout due to illness, lack of time and excuses. To see a vision through, you need to make sacrifices and that I wasn’t willing to do so with the 10k so that was just a daydream. Why? I placed the site, spending time with family/other half and photography above training. That’s where my passion lies. Fitness? Nah, never enjoyed it. So when someone from Virgin Active hit me up about stepping up to train for an indoor triathlon challenge….continues after the cut.

Time to show 3 stripe some love for upping their game with this new advertising campaign for the return of Chicago Bulls‘ point guard Derrick Rose. His return has been perfect promotional material for the sports brand, starting off with the mini documentary series and now they’ve just released this commercial featuring Chicagoans freezing in their tracks when the youngest MVP tore his ACL in the playoffs. Overly dramatic but well put together visuals work well; with scenes of rehabilitation and ending with Rose returning to the court. adidas Basketball have definitely hyped up his return to next levels considering he’ll still miss the first few months of the 12/13 season. Watch the advert on the flipside.

Hahaha, I bet many of you clicked the link in excitement after seeing the title of the post. Sorry! this post is completely SFW so you’re not living life on the edge, neither are you going to see any nekkidness. Google something else to find some of that, here we have an interesting series by NYC-based photographer Gail Albert Halaban who gets to know her neighbours via photographing them when they’re not looking through their open and exposed apartment windows. Sadly, Out My Window isn’t a really genuine voyeuristic photography that would be far too invasive! she stages each photograph to create the sense of voyeurism. See full set on the reverse.

Ya’ll probably remember the last Eastpak post on their innovative campaign centered around the question ‘When was the last time you did something for the first time?. It was an interesting one because as humans we tend to fall into routines, especially in the big city with our hectic lifestyles. Now the bag and accessories brand are back with a more compelling question for the Autumn/Winter campaign - ‘Do you want to sleep or do you want to live?‘. Everyone certainly interprets that latter part of this question in different ways, I’ve seen a plethora of people address ‘living’ as getting wasted. ‘Oh bruv I LIVED last night!!!’ Shut up, you live all the time and not just for the weekend. More on the reverse.

We can’t escape technology, its everywhere. Whether we like it or not our lives have been infiltrated on mass by technology through numerous products. The latest everyday house hold item to get a technological upgrade is the humble lightbulb. Kickstarter have unvield their latest project, a project which sees them aiming to reinvent the lightbulb. Following trail and error they have finally settled on design, components and functionality and are able to present to us LIFX. To put it simply “LIFX is a WiFi enabled, multi-colour, energy efficient LED light bulb that you control with your iPhone or Android.” More details on the flipside.

This week’s throwback is dedicated to the Legend that is Bob Marley (and the Wailers). Sometimes it feels good to retire from the usual stuff we’re bombarded with (that I also love) and chill to music like this- it’s positive, it’s motivational, it’s good vibes! I don’t think we’ve ever featured a Bob Marley track for Throwback Thursday :O …! So here it is, ‘Could You be Loved‘ by Bob Marley & The Wailers after the break.
