We’ve teamed up with the newly started Reload Sessions to bring to you acoustic sessions with London’s finest up and coming acts. The guys behind Reload Sessions hit me up a few months ago to see what we could do together and here we have our first collaboration; featuring singer Michael Duke. You should all have heard of him by now as he’s been one of West End’s biggest musicals ‘Thriller‘ and is also the founder of Shoreditch House night ‘Wired‘. I’ve only heard him sing a handful of times but never solo, so this was a pleasant surprise. Hop on after the cut.

Introductions have never been as straight forward as people make out, the science behind human interactions *sigh*.  Over the years I have become an expert at predicting and sidestepping awkward encounters, the art lies in knowing when to offer a friendly yet possibly awkward embrace, a firm handshake & confident eye contact or simply a cheeky grin and a wink (The latter proving unsuccessful from personal experience).

We’re a family. Not just a bunch of WordPress nerds who sit behind a mac all day blogging away – we actually do meet up once in a while. Honestly, the family is so diverse, we have developers, designers, writers, critics, music aficionados, marketing execs and more. What brings us together? Our love for London and it’s booming creative culture. It’s been a glorious year, bring on 2012 already – time to up the game with the relaunch. New content coming your way! Hope on after the cut to peep a few hilarious photographs of the family.

Sorry for the inconvenience, I know you missed our constant updates on the world of fashion, music and art. First of all, noticed any changes? If not clear your cache, voila. Welcome to Y&Y v 2.0. We started the site over 2 years ago and the journey from a blog started by 2 university kids about all things ‘cool’ to a website that offers daily inspiration for London’s flourishing creative scene. Although the old design was still loved by many for its simplicity and constantly complimented, we felt it was time for a change in order to grow. As always I’m sure a few readers will prefer the old design but change is good, give it a week and you’ll love this layout.

So last month, we were invited down to H&M‘s showroom for a style session. What does this entail you ask? Our task was pretty simple – to construct a look that we felt represented our personal style using H&M’s latest Divided collection. To be honest, when I got the email in my inbox about this opportunity, I actually thought it was a joke haha. So we went down, not sure what to expect as we haven’t done anything of the kind before. Sure we’ve done shoots but not a filmed interview/style session – I hate being on camera and hate hearing my own voice played back to me even more! However the results are pretty nice if I do say so myself – continues on the reverse.

We’ve teamed up with American Express again, headline sponsor of the 55th BFI London Film Festival, to offer two lucky readers and a guest the chance to be one of the first to see Bernie on Saturday 22nd October, 6.15 at the Vue cinema in Leicester Square. All you have to do is answer a stupidly simple question after the cut. The answer is in fact in the copy on the reverse.

I’ve been blogging for just over two years, over on musicshewrote, as well as contributing to web magazines and music websites in the way of interviews and event reviews. But, upon graduating in Law in 2010, travelling to Nepal to live, teach & learn and now, working full time in social media (as well as being involved in some side projects); time has taken a major toll.
