The other day, whilst shopping online, err I mean studying, I came across the current range from DKNY and had to resist clicking *add to my bag* on a gorgeous two hundred and fifty pound skirt. *Sigh* So, and in keeping with the recent NYC theme on Y&Y, here’s a look at the Spring lookbook from DKNY. Donna Karen launched DKNY over twenty years ago, and it has since grown from it’s denim origins into the New York street smart go-to label. This season there’s a lot of strong contrasts between textures, shapes and colours, but with a relaxed vibe. If you’re brave enough to try the current trend of head-to-toe colour or pattern, check out the lookbook after the break to see how effortless and cool it can be.

Kanye West debuted his 2012 Autumn/Winter collection at La Halle Freyssinet as part of Paris Fashion Week yesterday. This second fashion show received a warmer reception from the fashion industry this time around, and the guest list reaffirmed this with Anna Wintour in attendence. In addition, Jay-Z, Common, Alicia Keys, Swizz Beatz, Cassie, Diddy and Big Sean showed their support, as well as Miss Kim Kardashian who was spotted wearing Kanye’s famous Guiseppe shoes. The models showcased 20 different looks which consisted mainly of fur accessories and leather two-piece sets and dresses. Whilst the collection isn’t particularly groundbreaking in style, I do like the layering of different textures. Imagine a luxe version of Zara’s staple Autumn designs but with a little more attitude: biker chic meets workwear. Hit the jump for pics!

You’ve all seen the numerous lookbooks, launch party videos and short films featuring the hugely anticipated Marni for H&M collection. I believe Marni will attract more of a fashion crowd; they’re no where near as big as Versace but at the same time do not have the, dare I say, ‘hood’ fan base. The Marni collection is all about the details, patterns, prints and bordering on uncomfortable levels of femininity with the unisex pieces. As you’ve already seen the garment in its full glory, I’ve decided to give you the close-up view of the prints and tailoring. I’m all for printed garments for womenswear, can’t say the same for menswear. It has to be styled correctly. More on the reverse.

Acne is fast becoming one of my favourite brands. It would be better if I could actually afford (and justify) spending that much money on clothes. One day! In the meantime I can still lust over the latest collection! Acne designer Jonny Johansson sent out a Morrocan inspired SS12 collection. He remixed the traditional with today’s street styles resulting in a cool, graphic collection punctuated with bold separates, grounded by a denim palette of white, black, and blue. Wide legged bermudas, cropped tops and trousers, knee length skirts and leather in the color scale we’ve seen around lately, mustard greens and yellows, orange and pink. Love it! Check out the lookbook on the flipside.

A few years ago if you told me about Wrangler‘s lookbook coming out, I wouldn’t have the care in the world. In the past 2 years, the brand’s identity has changed – new creative director perhaps? Whoever it is, his/her work has been glorious. Each and every season has had good campaigns with memorable imagery – red, stunt and we are animals. This time round, it’s much more toned down and not your cliché lifestyle shoot with the folks walking in the countryside but with a twist. The lookbook is impeccable, natural lighting shot imagery filled with a range of action shots to highlight the comfort of the clothing. The clothing? BLEH – it doesn’t excite me, not the menswear anyway. The womenswear jackets are nicely constructed whereas the same can’t be said for most of the men’s jackets, the fit is a bit odd. I’m no Denimologist (making up words) so you’ll have to judge the quality of the selvedge. There is nothing really ‘edgy’ about the clothing. Hop on after the cut to peep it all.

This was our first womenswear competition; the response was incredible and I guarantee you that there will be plenty more to come in the future! Hop on after to find out who won the lucky winner of the dress, earrings and bracelet is.
