Now this is my first foray into one of the sites most integral asset. I have, for a long time, wanted to contribute to this section but I thought it was a section that was undeniably linked with Yin and Yang. Take me back Tuesdays was a consideration for a while but I thought it wouldn’t make sense to have two similar post series. Hence my first ThrowbackThursday post. I like to think that I have a good and diverse music catalogue and it is my aim to induce a sense of nostalgia and joy when reminiscing on the tracks that I submit. Today’s Throwback Thursday post I think should consist of tracks that I enjoy and feel people may have forgotten, so I present to you Throwback Thursday the smooth groves edition
So many things going on at once that we missed Throwback Thursday! So we’re doing Flashback Friday this week; following an explosive weekend at Wireless we were reminded by how consistent a certain artist has been throughout her career. We all remember when she first came on to the scene with “Most Girls” back in 2000, indeed its Pink; she started out as just another good R&B singer and somehow evolved into this fiery pop/rock star we know her to be today. Jumping off stage and dangling from fixtures at her concerts shes honestly nuts..in a good way. So we’ve dedicated this Flashback to Pink, enjoy.
I was never that into UK music when I was younger because it was mainly grime, but there are quite a few tunes that were different: the ones that bring back memories or just have you thinking “why did this happen!?”; so this week throwback is about remembering some of our favourite UK tunes.. starting with Free by Estelle… wow she has changed!
I’m so hyped about this Sunday, it’s Jay-Z day at WirelessFestival. It’s going to be fucking amazing, pardon my french. I don’t care what people say about his freemason/illuminati links! it’s all about his music. So I thought I’d dedicate to this post to the self-proclaimed JeHOVA of Rap. He is without a doubt up there with the greats, after the cut for my favourite classic songs from him.
For those that don’t know tomorrow will mark one year since Michael‘s death. I still remember that night, I was drinking away at a friends house so I ignored my phone but later checked to find several calls and texts only to find about his death. I nearly broke into tears and I rarely cry unless it’s a family member passing away/Arsenal losing in the Champion‘s League final. The whole world was in mourning for weeks, do you think any other human being’s death will have that kind of impact? Madonna? Lady Gaga? ehh no. Greatest Ever.
Our Michael Jackson tribute continues this week, this time we’ve chosen Mj tunes that are not as popular as his big hits. We’ve chosen ‘Break of Dawn’ from his Invincible album and ‘This Time Round’ with Biggie off HIStory. Songs on the flipside.
It’s Throwback Thursday again, and we’re continuing our month long tribute in honour of The King Of Pop and his beyond amazing career. We love all MJ tunes but today we picked Lady In My Life and one of my all time favourites: Ghosts; the choreography in this video is amazing, I tried to master it as a child.. didn’t work though.
