It was just 5 years ago that the world was introduced to Big Sean. A very young ambitious Detroit native trying to get buzz on his music, his Detroit player swag, and put his city on the map.  After convincing one of Rap’s biggest artist that he was perfect for signing with a quick 16 bar freestyle at a local radio station in his hometown. Sean landed himself a record deal with G.O.O.D Music and Def Jam. Under his new home of a label he released a series of mixtapes entilted “Finally Famous“.  Creating a huge fanbase of folks fascinated with his Detroit player swag, clever rhymes, one word punchlines, and style. With massive praise on the tapes, this called for something bigger — an LP. And an LP is what we got. On 28th June Sean made it known that he’s set make his mark in the game and possibly be what Beyonce is to R&B, Big Sean can be to rap. Album review and favorites on the reverse.

After talking about talking to Yang about this woman and how underrated one of her albums was and is I decided to feature her and the title track from that album in this weeks Shoulda Woulda Coulda. One of many baby mothers to Lil Wayne, Nivea was once married to The-Dream, with many thinking that his song ‘Love vs Money’ was about Nivea and Wayne. Which makes the title of the featured song and album that more appropriate. Complicated was Nivea’s second studio and was released in 2005 preceded by leading single ‘Okay’ featuring Lil John. Go and check the album out, in my opinion its a very good album. Also as a bonus check out the track from The Dream that i was referring to earlier on the flipside.

I’ve actually got a fair few tunes for you this time. The post was delayed mainly because of the Y&Y one year celebrations and I spent most of yesterday recovering from the night. I’ll kick start off things with the final version of Quincy Jones‘ Secret Garden 2010 version featuring Usher, Robin Thicke, Tyrese Gibson, LL Cool J, Tevin Campbell & Barry White. It’s like the Ultimate R&B crooner fest, straight bedroom music. More after the cut.

Shoulda Woulda Coulda is a new music based post (you know how I do) promoting songs that I feel were overlooked and should have been given single treatment. Album sales hugely depend on the success of the singles released from the album especially the singles released before an album drops. On many occasions artists/labels choose to push the wrong singles in my opinion so my job is to point out the songs that I feel would have been a great single choice. Today’s post include songs from Mariah Carey, Ja Rule, Leona Lewis, The Dream.

The-Dream just decided to drop trilogy of videos in a day; all 3 songs (Yamaha, Nikki Pt.2, Abyss) are from his latest record ‘Love King‘ which dropped legally yesterday. The funny thing is I featured 2 of the songs in this video-medley in Eargasms as they’re my favourite off the album. The videos aren’t anything special, even feels like he’s trying too hard but I do like how they’re shot, concepts-wise meh. Enjoy the music and go buy the album. It’s by far his best since his first, video after the cut.

I’m really late with this but that’s mainly due to the lack of good songs in the past week. I’ve only got around 15 songs for ya’ll. Starting off with a dope song off Curren$y‘s upcoming album featuring Mos Def and Jay Electronica. You can’t go wrong when you have the likes of those 2 on the track, songs after the cut.

I’m back! 2 weeks worth of eargasmic music in this post. I had to delay this post due to my Macbook going away for repairs so I didn’t have access to my iTunes Library. I’ll kick start things with a Drake song which might be a leak/a cut off his debut album ‘Thank Me Later‘ which is set to drop on May 25th 2010. Remember the date, pre-order that ish because it’s going to be epic. I hope the new phenomenon can live up to the hype. Much much more after the cut.
