I’m sorry, but let me the first to complain about the auto-tuning used in this years X Factor auditions. OK, so first we heard Gamu Nhengu, aged 18 singing ‘Walking on Sunshine’. She had a nice voice (not sure about the accent, kind of an African meets a Scotsman in an American cab), good tone, looks pretty etc and then in comes this robotic monotone noise and all of a sudden she’s applauded. Are you for real? The auto-tune sounds like a Transformers cyborg that has morphed into a microphone doing a solo. Now THAT is something I would buy into! More on the flipside.

But don’t put talentless crap in my face and try to mask their crappiness! (Exhibit A – G & S | watch below). Now not only am I pissed that you put through people who cannot sing but even more pissed that you tried to hide it from me!

Surely diluting a singer’s voice giving them the impression they can hold a note is kinda defeating the object of a singing talent content. Anybody can sound relatively decent using auto-tune, even Katie Price.

I’m not all against the technique, I mean, rapper Kanye – who reintroduced it back into main stream music – pulls it off pretty well. But then again he is a rapper so he can get away with it. Musicians around the world moan about how singers are ‘not what they used to be’ and you wonder why! Just check out Shirlena Johnson’s audition video below for evidence.

That said, when I won tickets at work earlier this year to watch the live Birmingham auditions I didn’t pick up on it then. People were just naturally really good or really crap, either way they kept me entertained. But hey, I’m still going to tune in next week, maybe Bumblebee will be debuting.

Meet Apple Girl, she blew my mind away with her beauty and talent. She is beyond beautiful and the fact that she’s a female that knows how to use technology is quite frankly a turn-on. She recreates Lady Gaga’s Poker Face using 4 iPhones that use different applications to create the beat and for her vocals she uses the T-Pain application. She has a strong Korean accent but don’t let that stop you from listening as her singing voice is DOPE (minus the autotune).  Videos after the cut.

Ok so another busy week for me with university work, mayn don’t you just hate end of semester time? All these damn assignments and irrelevant presentations mixed with all the powerpoint lectures. Anyway I’ve got some big tunes from unknowns to platinum selling artists.

I’ll start off with B.O.B. aka Bobby Ray‘s first single, Nothing On You. The song features Bruno Mars who kills the hook, so infectious and catchy. This song will be in the Top 10, I guarantee it. Pop the hood for the tune and the rest.
