I only recently became aware of the artist ‘KOF’ when I heard his current single ‘Looking At Me’, but the Liverpool artist has been in the game for years. Real name Kofi Owusu shows his soulful side on the single, compared to his earlier days when he focused mainly on rapping. The 26 year old doesn’t want to be placed in a box though and describes himself as a rapper/singer-songwriter.

22-year-old Travis Tatum Mills who is more commonly known as T. Mills released his free album ‘Leaving Home’ under Colombia records back in July, but it’s only recently I’ve become aware of him after hearing single ‘Hollywood’. The track, which features Colin Munroe, prompted me to download the 10-song cd.

Frank Ocean, the gravelly-toned, veracious singer songwriter who has managed to achieve the unachievable (be equally as popular with both men AND women?!) has today released his latest ‘song for women’, “Thinking About You”. I peeped this on Soul Culture this morning and have had it on repeat ever since. Just like all of Frank Ocean‘s material, “Thinking About You” is incredibly easy to listen to; it’s that “sunny Sunday afternoon, chilling in bed with your lover” kind of music. The Odd Future singer really impressed me with his improved vocal range on this track, in particular the falsetto. What Frank Ocean never fails to achieve is write songs which we can relate to.

YES! #ColeWord. The commute to work today = horrific, the best part of it was Friday Night Lights blasting through my headphones. J. Cole went in with that mixtape and I’ve been waiting for new music ever since. The long awaited first official single from J.Cole’s forthcoming debut album has leaked. It samples Kanye West‘s ‘Work It Out’ and it’s effin’ dope. It’s definitely keeping me awake at work, head bopping at the desk whilst I write this post. Coffee doesn’t come close to the effect good hip-hop has on me, only caffeine I need this morning. Well I didn’t want to walk to Benugo in the rain to get my regular caffeine fix haha. Listen to the song after the cut.

Bleh. I’m disappointed with this new Beyoncé single. I expected a LOT better than her but apparently this is just a demo version but can the real deal be that different? She just pon de floor 2 years late! all this girls talk is annoyingly repetitive throughout the song. This is a man’s world, who runs this world? Jay-Z #noilluminati haha. What do you guys think of the song? listen to it on the reverse, ya’ll can read the lyrics there too. I’m interested to see how different the mastered version will sound.

I am pretty sure 90% of you are bored of Jessie J. These past 6 months since we interviewed her, she’s been EVERYWHERE. Every magazine has done a feature on this Essex girl, she’s even the Big Issue. The video for her latest single ‘Nobody’s Perfect’ surfaced earlier on VEVO and I think it’s my favourite one from her so far. They’ve continued to portray her as a whacky character her videos and this one is no exception. They go with a theme of Alice in Wonderland set in a haunted house up on a hill. The styling is perfect for the theme, I’m not sure about this whole whacktastic image but I guess it’s necessary in pop music nowadays. Hop on after the cut to peep the video.
