Everyone has potential, circumstances may hinder your journey but if you truly believe in your given skills and talent then what’s going to stop you? That’s thing, a lot of people don’t. Lack of confidence and fear go hand in hand – I’ve come across so many people who are afraid of failing, rejection and just generally lack confidence in their skills. That’s when the issue arises and you’re more likely to be satisfied at a job that doesn’t let you flourish and develop to your full potential. We call that the safety zone; you’ll never succeed in reaching your full potential there. It’s all about taking risks and trying something new, you never know what you’re capable of doing. Try it – believe in yourself. If you don’t, then who will?

Something that has been on my mind for the past few weeks. A lot of our lives are run on routines – get up, go to work, go home, sleep and do it all again. I’m sure you all agree that TFL constantly fails us; our journey to work is usually hectic and hindered by it. How many of you have walked past ‘that’ person who needed an extra hand to lift up his/her luggage up the stairs because you were running late to work. I know I have. In fact this starts at how home, how many of us take time out of our busy schedules to treat your parents to dinner or just be there for them. I certainly haven’t done that much, shameful I know but I’m glad I got smacked in the face with a reality check. As humans, we need to be ready to inconvenience ourselves in order to help others. Wouldn’t you want someone to help you up carry luggage up the stairs? You never know what little act of generosity could do. Try it. Click here for high res.

I’m sorry for being so late with this post again, tough few days with work, being ill and such have kept me occupied. One thing I’ve noticed in the past few months is that each and every person who I’ve met or become friends with is driven, motivated and have some kind of passion that makes me want to work harder and better my craft . I lost a lot of friends in 2011; not so much them giving me the thumbs down like in Primary School but just naturally growing apart. My friend’s circle is small, the people in that circle are a blessing to my life. I’m grateful for that, it’s important to surround yourself with people that influence you to do greater things. Steer clear of bad company! Apologies, I will fix up the typography and photography game for next week. This isn’t my best work. I admit.

This year, I’ve had some great victories in my life. Goals that were set way before the start of the year, I don’t do resolutions! these were personal goals such as graduating from university and finding a job. Resolutions are nice, if you can stick by them – I’m a goal orientated person, always have set goals for myself throughout my life on where I want to be and what I want to do. The latter seems to changed all to often as circumstances and new doors & avenues open up out of nowhere but that’s the beauty of life. Visualising your victory can help us look and hone our focus onto our long term goals. The struggle is part of the process, it’s thrill of growing and changing that I most look forward to. One day at a time folks! Right…time to get to work.

Stuck? Frustrated? Let Uncle Niran help. No I kid. I love how life always has ways of bringing us to a place where we need to make a fresh start. This week has kind of been that way for me with the new website launching. The whole journey was gruelling and my patience was definitely TESTED – glad I’ve made it through without giving up on the redesign. Working towards your goals and feel like you’re not going anywhere? Stick with it, hard work pays off. Results will start to appear. Don’t get distracted, focus. Right, new year’s resolutions time….eff that. I have new week resolutions. Why wait till the end of the year?

I came across this quote via my fellow post modernist Indian brother @stylecupidblog on Twitter. Identity is a major issue with many these days and one of the main causes? The media, internet and all that jazz. We’re constantly being fed information and images of what and who we’re meant to look/act like. We live in a celebrity obsessed society, let’s face it we’ve all looked up to someone in the media limelight at some point in our lives. Don’t let the idolisation make you lose sight of who you are, just be yourself. Remove that mask before it’s too late. Otherwise you might end up in regretting not being YOU in the future.

I love my Grandma, real talk *cue girls simultaneously making aww sounds*. She’s looked after me throughout most of my younger years as my parents both worked full-time jobs. Till this day, she’s the most understanding out of my family – she even approves of my tattoo! Imagine in 50 years time when we’re all grandparents, what rules would we set? I’d imagine they would be a hella different to our parents. Meet Chacho Puebia – a Spanish designer working for Leo Burnett who has found himself giving the same kind of sermons to his children. So he’s decided to conjure a few tips that his gran should have given him to prepare himself for the social media world baptism. More on the reverse.
