I am absolutely shattered. I got home over a hour ago but only finally managed to find energy to sit up and write some posts. Yang and I had our first ever magazine feature photo shoot early yesterday morning in BARNET. Trust, it was a long journey and for most part I felt like a zombie. Once the shoot got going all that tiredness disappeared, it was most definitely fun and I for one prefer being the one in front of the camera but this was a great experience. Wait till you see some of the photographs, the clothes were a little….different to say the least. Let’s just say LFW catwalk! p.s. the shoot took place in the warehouse studio pictured above, dope ey?

Two weeks ago I headed to Levi’s Photo Workshop in SoHo with my photography class on a trip where Levi’s hosted its 10 week long photo workshop. The Levi’s Photo Workshop opened October 8 to December 18 as a workshop focused on the celebration of  New York City creatives and the community. The workshop allowed individuals to see photographers at work, view the atmosphere of each artists work, photograph in the studio, rent cameras and use photographs to put on any item you want. But it’s gets even better. It was all free! Free is a beautiful word isn’t it? More after cut.

After attending the workshop that day I promise myself I would go everyday. So I did, while at workshop I bumped into my photography teacher Curtis Willocks who introduced me to several photographers. One of the many photographers who stood out to me the most was Chiun-Kai Shih.  Shih is a New York based photographer, creative director and works as a contributor at Condé Nast Publications.

My photography teacher then suggested I should interview Chiun-Kai Shih. While interviewing Shih I was extremely nervous. One, I had no prepared questions and my questions were off the top of my head. Two, he’s of very high caliber. With interviewing him I got hear everything from how he became interested in photography, his challenges to his craziest shoots done. Hearing Shih talk was really inspiring because you could really see he loves what he does and passion he has as well.

Overall, the workshop was amazing. I talked to tons of cool people insightful people, got a better look on the photography scene in New York City, saw artist at work in a creative environment, snap some photos in the photobooth and make t-shirts and  make a bag that said “Yeezy taught me”. Hehe! I had to make that a bag.  Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. The workshop was really great while it lasted. I’ll miss it!

The Canadian fashion label give us a really brief preview before their full launch this Friday. Got to say I’m really not sure what to expect with this one because I haven’t been a fan of their clothing but I think this photoshoot has given me second thought and hopefully the full collection will turn things around completely. I love the way it has been shot, especially the dark and sinister effect in the photos. Although I am not entirely sure this really does the clothes justice, the black and white is actually perfect for the military trend that’s really hot this season. Peep the preview here..

Gregg Williams a great photographer and an extremely lucky man as he gets the opportunity to shoot the beautiful Rachel Weisz for Esquire Magazine. I wanna say the photography is amazing which it is however Rachel is the reason why I’m watching.. you?  I thought Rachel was sexy ever since ‘The Mummy‘ but damn I’ve never seen her look like this before! I decided to stick around for a few and observe the happenings behind the scenes at the shoot. The 2 stylists were getting the model for an avant garde shoot, first by painting her eyebrows white and then placing her in a black wig. They made me try the wig on but don’t think for a second I’ll be posting photos of that, I looked like an Indian aunty/brown surfer dude gone wrong.

Honestly don’t know much about this New York City based fashion label, DQM but one thing I know for sure this lookbook is dope. This is a beautiful shoot taken by reknown NYC street photographer Sue Kwon. I want her to shoot us when he NY and if not, her work is truly inspirational and I hope to do a similar street shoot one day. The shoot features the staff of DQM as they engage in everyday activities.

Few months ago I had no clue who this Terry Richardson bloke was and now I idolise him. Since finding out he shot the Pirelli 2010 calender, I’ve wanted to be him and now he shoots 2 of my favourite music artists, Pharrell Williams and Lupe Fiasco. Both of them have albums out this year, going to be interesting to see what this shoot is for. More photos after the cut.

Actor Ben Stiller and famous provactive photographer Terry Richardson team up for a photoshoot for Rolling Stone Stone Magazine.Richardson is known for photographing people such as President Barack Obama, Lil Wayne, Pharrell Williams and more. View the whole shoot after the shoot after the cut.

Olive posted the cover of Bape’s S/S 2010 Mook early last week and now since it’s release in Japan the photoshoot images and the interview has leaked onto the internet. Of course I’m going to post it since I’m Cudi’s number 1 fan. I’m not a big fan of the styling (especially in one photo, you’ll see) but the photography shot by Guy Aroch is real dope. I like the use of light textures in his photography. In the interview, Kid Cudi speaks his relationship with Bape, release of his first album and his plans for 2010. How was 2009? The release of your first album and touring must have been highlights?

Looking back at 2009 is just really overwhelming for me, the fans have carried me so far and I’m just enlightened by all the love I’ve received thus far. The highlight is traveling and meeting all these beautiful young people who feel how I feel. I speak their language.

You worked at BAPE STORE NEW YORK before. How did that come about and why did you want to work there?

I was always a fan of the brand but it just wasn’t something I could afford back then. I remember working there my first couple of weeks in the same uniform cause I didn’t own anything prior to being hired. So it was a dream come true to be able to work at the store I dreamed of shopping in one day. Over a couple of years I might have applied at the store 3 or 4 times before the last attempt that got me hired. I fell in love with BAPE because of their color selection and artwork. I love the style of their cartoons.

How did you first get to know about BAPE?

I discovered what BAPE was when I moved to NY, the store opened up shortly after I moved from Cleveland.

Did you hear any interesting stories about your time there?

I remember Kanye coming in one time and I was helping him get a couple things. I forgot to take a sensor off of one of the jackets he bought and I had to run out the store to catch him before he left. Pretty funny me chasing after him in SoHo haha.

What do you think of BAPE at the moment?

I think BAPE is taking things to amazing new levels. I love the new designs and artwork. They stay true to classic BAPE style but including new and creative twists here and there. I love what they’ve done lately with my MILO character.

Do you have any styling rules when you dress?

I def stick to what works for me. I like to be comfortable, I have a ridiculous amount of t-shirts, some vintage but mostly BAPE. I wear the same jeans everyday a couple months at a time. I have a uniform haha.

Please tell us your plans for 2010.

I’m working on my new album now, “Cudder and the Revolution of Evolution” which is due out this Summer. I have an HBO show I have a supporting role in called “How To Make It In America” airing now. I want to do a couple movies this Summer and some touring. I like staying busy. Its not work, it’s fun.
