I think by now we all know that I love me some Nicki Minaj so when I came across this cover of one of her songs I knew I just had to post it. Married couple Amy and Nick make up the youtube sensation that is Karmin. Under this guise they have posted many videos of themselve covering the songs of some of our favourite music artists. They have become so popular that they have performed covers on the Ellen Degeneres show and on air with Ryan Seacrest. Having first come across their Minaj cover of Super Bass I then continued to watch them take on Lil Wayne, Chris Brown and more. Peep a few of their covers after the break, notice the Questlove from The Roots is in the Super Bass cover.

With the release of the Nicki Minaj’s Super Bass video the other day it got me thinking about how her singles and album release have been released here in the UK. It’s often the case that artists release different songs at different times to different audiences in order to gain maximum success. Some songs will work better in different territories compared to others and that’s fine but with Minaj I feel she has been let down by single choices (more so, single choice order) and promotion of her work to the UK audience.

I watched the Nicki Minaj documentary on MTV last week. If you haven’t already I would suggest you do regardless of whether you are or aren’t a Barb or Ken Barb. The documentary is called ‘My Time Is Now’ and was first mentioned on the site here by DJB. You can watch the documentary on MTV as repeats are still being aired. The reason I say watch it whether you are or aren’t a fan is because of the way Nicki comes across.

The world premiere of the hotly anticipated video for the Nicki Minaj and Drake collaboration ‘Moment 4 Life’ finally occurred when I was sleeping last night. Ever since stills of the video were released showing Minaj and Drake in a situation where it looks as if they are about to kiss, the blog world has been crazy with rumors of a relationship between the two and all kinds of funny stuff. Now we can finally see if they kiss or not. Now this video has dropped all im waiting on is for Kanye to drop the ‘All of the Lights’ video and i’ll be happy. Check the video on the flipside.

When I first heard that Nicki Minaj was on V Magazine I began to laugh because it sounded odd and unlike V Magazine. Until I was walking in the street and passed by a news stand and saw the magazine myself. Several thought came to mind like: “Why her?, What was the sense of her being on the cover, and Did she even know what V Magazine was?” but then I thought to myself it’s ok that she’s on V Magazine because at least she wasn’t on Vogue, Elle, or Harper Baazar. In the new upcoming Spring issue of V magazine Minaj talks about everything from her team, music, Lady Gaga, Rihanna & Taylor Swift. Complete spread after the cut.

Ahaha. This is apparently a ‘leaked‘ version of the spoof video, it’s a shame that it’s not the full version. It’s pretty random but I can’t help but laugh, much more appropriate for the TV. I doubt Kanye‘s Monster video will ever air on MTV, well maybe after midnight but who the hell watches tele around that time anymore? It’s not as good as the Whip My Hair one but still have a gander and laugh.

2010 has come and gone and as the previous year drew to a close a whole host of people made lists of their favourites/Top 10’s from the year be it in music, TV or film. I personally find it to hard write top 10 lists so I thought I’d take the idea and put a different spin on it. Instead of listing my favourite songs I will highlight a few that caught my attention for one reason or another. 2010 has seen growth and maturity materialise in me and this has allowed me to appreciate things I never before would have done including music. Diversity is the keyword of 2010 in terms of where I’m at with music. The story continues after the cut.
