This week kicked off with what’s known as ‘Blue Monday’, the third Monday of the month of January every year is meant to be the most depressing day of the year; the weather is frightful, you’re just about scraping through to your next payday and a whole load of post-Christmas/NYE anti-climax nonsense is the “scientific reasoning” behind the namesake. I’m not sure about you guys, but this week sucked for me. Luckily I have some video gems from the likes of Lianne La Havas, The Bullitts, Santigold, The Internet and Nicki Minaj in this weeks Video Jukebox which should excite your aural and visual senses and hopefully lighten up your day a little! This week I included social media and iTunes links (if available). Hit the jump to see what I chose :-)

We’re baaaaack. Much more solid line-up of songs this week, I feel. Who else has had a relaxed weekend? I’ve spent most of the last 2 days at home, just relaxing and doing work on my top secret project. It’s nice to just stay in and work on something you love. It’s nice to get a break away from the fast-paced city lifestyle. Music for your journeys on the reverse, let us know what you think!

It’s been quite some time since my last Shoulda Woulda Coulda post so for all those who may have forgotten and those who are new to the site, this post is where I select a song that I feel should have been or should be released by an artist because I feel that it could and would have done well in the charts. Granted sometimes I do pick songs that I know probably wouldn’t have blown up in the charts but personally love the track and therefore warrants a place in this post. For today’s SWC I have selected a song from Nicki Minaj taken off her Pink Friday album. See what song after the cut.
Hello. We’re back again, new songs for the new week. Hmm, should tell y’all in advance – I won’t be posting much this next week. I need to complete a project that I’ve been working on for 2 months this week, it’s now or never. Taking way too long with my site and work duties so it’s time to take a breather and let the others takeover for a bit.

London is our home and a big part of what we like to incorporate into Y&Y so when we here of london based designers doing things in the fashion industry we have to document it. Christopher Kane has presented his first mens collection, which mostly consists of t-shirts. The graphic clothing that he has become famous for has followed through to this mens collection with majority of the tees sporting a colourful and wacky graphic design. I first came to hear of Mr Kane when I saw Nicki Minaj wearing one of his dresses see here, and we all know that I love me some Minaj lol. Check out the collection after the cut.

It has been a full 6 months since the music video for Monster leaked onto the internet. I wasn’t blown away then by the visuals but with the official release of the video only taking place yesterday I assumed that thinks would have changed dramatically in order to differ from the leaked unfinished version. Why else would Kanye and his team feel the need to release this new video well after the hype surrounding the song has died down. Well….. No thigs havent changed that much. I still say the video is ok nothing spectacular but nowhere near as bad as, lets say Britney Spears‘ video for Gimme More LOL. Any way have a look at the video for yourself if you’re still interested in this song.

I think by now we all know that I love me some Nicki Minaj so when I came across this cover of one of her songs I knew I just had to post it. Married couple Amy and Nick make up the youtube sensation that is Karmin. Under this guise they have posted many videos of themselve covering the songs of some of our favourite music artists. They have become so popular that they have performed covers on the Ellen Degeneres show and on air with Ryan Seacrest. Having first come across their Minaj cover of Super Bass I then continued to watch them take on Lil Wayne, Chris Brown and more. Peep a few of their covers after the break, notice the Questlove from The Roots is in the Super Bass cover.
