Finally the visuals for Lost Ones off J. Cole‘s album Coleworld: The Sideline Story have been released. Now it’s been said that the video was actually shot in 2008 before his deal with Roc-Nation. Props to Cole and his team to how under raps they kept this. For those of you that have listened to the album, you’ll know that this is one of Cole’s most evoking songs on there, where it talks of the trials and tribulations of have an unexpected baby on the way and whether him and his girl are ready for such. We all know having children is not the most easiest of tasks especially when you’re not able to provide for one.

Last week I heard Sean Paul’s latest single ‘She Doesn’t Mind’ and though I like the track, it doesn’t quite compare to his previous offerings and I’m speaking specifically about ‘Dutty Rock’. I’ve chosen Sean Paul’s single ‘I’m Still In Love With You‘  as this week’s throwback track as a reminder of how good he used to be. One thing I can’t help but notice is how much styling has changed over the years in music videos… is it me or has everything gotten tighter and less ‘bling’. But having said that, I like this video even though it is a little bit cheesy. I think the dancing is great too- no Daggering round here!… Watch the Sean Paul classic after the break.

Rihanna today released the music video for the first single ‘We Found Love’ from her upcoming album Talk That Talk. I have to say that this video is actually one of my favourites from her and I say this having only seen the video once. The video features male model Dudley O’Shaughnessy who had the very lucky job of playing Ri Ri’s boyfriend in the clip. although I do say that is is probably my favourite video in a long while from Miss Fenty, I would like to express my slight concern for her disregard to see herself as a role model for the young. While the video in my opinion as a 20 something year old adult is visually stimulating, it does raise an eyebrow when remembering that kids will be watching it during the day, for it reminds me of a Skins episode crammed into a 4 and a half minute clip. What with all the smoking, sex and possible drug taking it seems to capture, one does question whether there is a need for a more tame version to  be shown before the watershed. That being said, I return to my earlier sentiment and say that this is a good video for a song that I had previously been neglecting. Having seen this video I now like the song so much more. P.S it was nice to see Calvin Harris make a short cameo. Peep the clip after the break.

Beyonce is a beast. We all know this, she is killing the competition and working as hard or even harder even though she has an excuse to take it easy. Pregnancy doesn’t mean a thang in the world of Mrs Knowles-Carter. Since the highly anticipated announcement that she and husband Jay-Z are expecting their first child Beyoncé hasn’t stopped working. From TV appearances to performances to shooting music videos. In the early hours of this morning her latest music video was released to the world and as ever she smashed it. Dancing and shaking in the video as if the baby bump weren’t there. By no means am I suggesting that she should slow down but I’m just saying that she would be forgiven if she decided to take it easy, however she doesn’t see the need to do this so all I can say is Work it Gurl!

Chaos In Your Town

posted in tech by Yin

his is pretty clever, definitely a unique use of Google’s Street View system. In the past year, we’ve seen a few music videos incorporate Google’s technology to create nifty personalised videos for the user just by entering his/her’s address into the system. Chaos in Tour Town allows you to create a blockbuster robot destroying the world film featuring your own street and house. Although the video might be a little drag, it’s nicely done! Using the Street View capabilities to conjure up a a Flash movie that shows robots walking down your area of town, targeting your house or one of the neighbour you hate and blowing it into smithereens. It’s fun, doubt you’d play it more than once though – it does show you that there is a lot of potential for a brand to utilise it.

I have RINSED both these songs – they are deep, especially the Jessie J song. It’s a song that I think everyone can relate to at one point in their life. In fact same can apply to the Adele song if you’re an emotional wreck haha. Why am I putting both these videos in the same post? Both artists have powerful vocals and I feel you don’t need the gimmicky Gaga-esque videos to showcase them. I know a lot of people will complain about the Jessie J video as it’s just her sat in a room staring into a mirror but less is more people. Simplicity works.
