I had to press pause on Common’s new album, 3 songs in and it was sounding GOOD. One of the better hip-hop releases this year. When it comes to R&B – this year has been all about The Weeknd and Frank Ocean. Abel Tesfaye dropped House of Balloons then Thursday and now the finale to the mixtape trilogy; Echoes of Silence is unleashed on the interwebs, just in time for Christmas. Woah the first track is a cover of Michael Jackson’s Dirty Diana and he kills it! download link on the reverse.

Sorry for the mini-mid week hiatuses from us. It’s honestly down to work and when you come home from work around midnight and have to wake up at 6:45 to get in early – your body nor your mind wants to write any blogposts. This guy has been doing the rounds on Tumblr for a whole minute now but I’ve only just come across his page recently because the platform has started to grow on me. I’m still not too keen on it, have stopped photographs on there if you’ve noticed. It’s for the lazy bloggers. Back to Replace Face – I have no idea who this guy is. Does anyone know!? I want to give him/her a pat on the back. He’s taken the works of George Dawe, an English portrait artist during the Napoleonic Era and combining them photographs of friends, family and celebrities using Photoshop. They’re all really well done, in fact they look like actual paintings. More on the reverse.

The Michael Jackson tribute concert is ever closer and news regarding the star is starting to surface. Facebook have announced that they are to stream the concert live on their website and have dubbed it as “the first ever Pay-Per View  event available to Facebook’s global audience”.  The concert is set to take place on October 8th starting at 10AM costing  40 Facebook credits ($3.99) – this is the price if purchased before the 8th - 50 Facebook credits ($4.99) – when purchased on the day of the event -. Fearne Cotton will be hosting the event along side Jamie Foxx with performances from Beyoncé, Christina Aguilera, Alexandra Burke, among many others. Will you be watching?

So on my quest to find what I’ve missed out on the passed couple of weeks I found a series of videos of Y&Y favourite Mr. Aloe Blacc. Not only is this session arranged to live classical instruments but the “I Need A Dollar” Crooner does a hauntingly beautiful rendition of the late Micheal Jackson’s “Billie Jean” watch the session filmed at Made in Berlin in its entirety and a documentary about the process after the jump.

These have been out for quite some time now but we havn’t posted a fuckery video in a long while so I thought why not! You may or may not have come across ThisisMack, a channel on youtube quickly attracting a lot of attention because of his witty and highly amusing hypothetical beef videos mainly between Beyonce and Ciara.  Other videos include the likes of Kelly Rowland, Lady Gaga, Rihanna and even Michael Jackson. These videos kill us every time we watch them, there are some spectacular lines in these such as MJ’s “im sorry…who are you” and Ciara reference to Rihanna as a “Mothaf**kin crayon”.Wow and the voices… this guy went in. I wonder if he’ll do one with Christopher Brown and Frank Ocean! Watch the videos after the cut

At first I questioned why Chris Brown added ‘Deuces’ to the album as it had been officially released as a single on June the 25th 2010 and was available on his ‘Fan of a Fan’ mixtape since May last year. However on second thought I found it appropriate as he’s moved on from a very low point in his career and is saying deuces to all the haters. Waving his goodbyes, but not showing any hate as the albums title stood for ‘Forgiving All My Enemies’ (F.A.M.E.), but just recently CB said he wanted it to be closer to his heart so changed it to ‘Fans Are My Everything’.

With that said the album is one for his fans, he wants to thank all for their loyal support through some tough years he’s had to endure. At the age of 21 is quite remarkable he’s on his fourth album. My favourite album to date is ‘Chris Brown’ as this was predominantly r&b rather than the electro-pop and dance-pop he offered on ‘Graffiti’. The big question for me was which end of the scale would ‘F.A.M.E.’ be on. The debut album or his last record?

As mentioned we open with the huge r&b track ‘Deuces’ which was one of the standout singles from 2010. The second song to grace us is a piano driven r&b ballad brought to us by the Underdogs who have produced tracks for Beyonce, Babyface and Tank to name just a few. Chris shows off his great vocals while telling the story of how a female has his full attention and it’s all up to her how far they go.

Then comes one of my favourite Chris Brown tracks to date ‘No Bullshit’, which is reminiscent to ‘Take You Down’, but more mature. ‘Look At Me Now’ has to be pumped through by speakers on every occasion I plan on going out. Breezy raps with two of the best rappers in the game Busta and Weezy, but it’s them that really stand out on here. Chris Brown is a singer not a rapper in by books and this was exposed when standing against two giant spitters. However the song is a club banger and will have the whole floor on their feet.

Track 5 ‘She Ain’t You’ is a solid track that samples SWV’s ‘Right Here’, which sampled Michael Jackson’s ‘Human Nature’. I found myself going onto YouTube and searching for the SWV track though. This is what happens at times when artists use a classic song and add their own touch. However going by the first 5 tracks I was already impressed.

Then comes ‘Say it With Me’ followed by ‘Yeah 3x’ which are built on the Euro-pop genre and if you’ve read previous posts of mine you know I’m not the biggest fan. ‘Oh My Love’ follows the same formula as Chris is trying to crossover to the mainstream with these tracks. You can’t blame him as it’s worked with ‘Yeah 3x’, which is doing well in the UK and US charts. ‘Beautiful People’ which is produced by the man who gave us the ridiculously catchy ‘Satisfaction’, Benny Benassi, could end up being one of Chris’s most successful songs to date as the dance and house lovers all around the world will love this.

‘Next 2 You’ features Justin Bieber and sees the two singers trading verses on a pop/r&b track which will please many young girls, but I can’t say I’m a fan of this Disney-esque record. ‘All Black’, ‘Should’ve Kissed You’ and ‘Beg For It’ are all solid r&b songs from Brown, but it’s on the Ludacris assisted ‘Wet The Bed’ that Chris gains my attention once more as this is the Chris I want to hear, just like ‘No Bullshit’. Singles more like these and ‘Poppin’ are when Chris is at his best for me.

As well as Luda, Chris managed to get Wiz Khalifa on ‘Bomb, The Game on ‘Love The Girls’, Timbaland and Big Sean on ‘Paper, Scissors, Rock’, but none of these songs really do anything for me. I like the beats and production, but none standout out for me, they are included only on the deluxe edition.

All in all the album is not a classic, and doesn’t top his debut effort, but it doesn’t disappoint me like Graffiti did. It is a very solid CD from Chris and I would give the album a 3.5 out of 5. I‘m sure the album will be a commercial success for Chris as he’s put in a lot of hard work in repairing a very damaged image. And I wish him the best of luck this year and beyond.

I posted the preview a few days ago and as promised here’s the full version of the video to MJ‘s first single off the posthumous record ‘Michael‘. I can’t say I’m looking forward to the release of the album, it’s just a money making ploy for the record label. Leave his legacy alone, don’t taint it with rubbish like Breaking News. Who knows? Maybe I’m wrong and it’ll be a hit record but right now Willow Smith is set to take number 1 spot in the UK ahead of this song. Saying that, I like this record and the video is nice & happy. A 30 second preview of the video for ‘Hold My Hand‘ featuring Akon dropped a few moments ago. It’s the 1st single Michael Jackson’s  from his posthumous album Michael. I’m loving what I see of the video already, beautifully shot and some nice clips from Michael’s career. It’s so obvious the haters will be quick to comment on the use of children in the video, ergh. We’ll have the full video for you as soon as it drops but for now, peep the preview on the flipside.

I’ve been going on about this game for a while now and as I have yet to purchase it, I thought it warrants a Christmas Wants post. Like I’ve rambled on before, this is a game for your whole family – all generations, almost everyone appreciates Michael Jackson. In fact I find it weird when people tell me they dislike his music, I’m always like ‘your favourite artist’s favourite artist is Michael, ya’ll can’t hate’. How can you not like his music!?
