I went to visit the agency that I interned at a few years back – the one I wrote excessively about (click here) and the one that help shape my career – forever grateful. Nostalgic to say the least, these posters by French student René Mambembe combine nostalgia with everyone’s favourite font, *ahem* helvetica. He’s simplified classic comic book heroes into a letter led poster with a minimalist vector representation of the hero. Hop on after the cut.

As far as campaigns go, the promo for the new Marvel film: Avengers Assemble, has been really strong. Last week, Marvel teamed up with clothing company Addict to create a street art mural on Old Street to coincide with the coming release of the film. Responsible for the substantial job was artist and illustrator Alex Young, who drew two characters per day until completion two days ago (Saturday 21st). The whole process was recorded through a live stream and is available for you to watch now; it’s definitely worth looking at the photos after the break as Alex did an amazing job. Marvel are not playing with the promo this time round, there are teasers everywhere, not to mention the trailers!

“And there came a day unlike any other…” This opening line to the Avengers comic books was also spoken by Samuel L. Jackson when the cast of the Avengers was first unveiled at Comic-Con almost two years ago. Marvel’s ambitious superhero team-up has been four years in the making and has spanned five films, but now it’s finally upon us. Make no mistake about it; Avengers Assemble marks an unprecedented event. Just like the team itself, there are so many reasons why it should not work. And yet, director Joss Whedon & co have managed to surpass all the lofty expectations and deliver not only one of the greatest superhero films ever made, but one of the best blockbusters in recent memory.

‘Because if we can’t protect the Earth, you can be damn sure we’ll avenge it!’. Damn right! what a movie, watched it a few hours ago with our resident film critic, Amon. He’s already seen it twice and the films not out for another week! that’s how you know it’s worth the wait. W+K produced this incredible design for the gate fold insertion in Entertainment Weekly for retailer Target. Using a plethora of everyday objects that you could find in your local Target (A stateside Tesco equivalent) including action figures, batteries, drinks and more. The attention to detail is mind-boggling, great creative direction from Guy Seese. See the rest of the set on the reverse.

No, that is not a typo; in case you hadn’t heard, ‘Marvel’s Avengers Assemble’ is the new UK title for the eagerly anticipated superhero team-up, set to hit cinemas on April 26. All good film trailers come in two’s! Not to be outdone by yesterday’s epic 1 minute TV spot of The Avengers, good ol’ Spidey has popped up with some new footage of his own in a brand new trailer. This take is clearly different from Sam Raimi’s earlier trilogy, but it doesn’t look any less impressive. The checkboxes for web-slinging, wall-crawling, and wisecracking are all ticked, and the darker tone may yet prove to be beneficial. With Spider-Man joining The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises in theaters later this year, this summer is shaping up to be particularly epic for comic book fans. Check out the trailer and synopsis after the jump.
