Don’t you just love it when you stumble across something so simple, random but beautiful that instantly puts a smile on your face. Yeah this did just that to me at work. I was full on cheesing, had to share it with a few of my colleagues. Well the nerdy ones who also shared an appreciation for all things Star Wars Kristina Alexanderson, a 40 year old who has been trying to portray the faceless evil Stormtroopers in a new light, one that is full of love & kindness. She’s managed to successfully do just that with scenes featuring one of Darth Vader’s henchmen tenderly carrying his son. You have to see it to believe it, continues after the jump.

Dope Quote #21

posted in other by Yin

I know I usually restrict the quote posts for Monday as I like to leave people with that thought for a whole week but I felt this one had to come to be unleashed today. I watched something so disturbing last night that it reduced me to tears, in fact I was slightly nauseous afterwards. It was sickening, inhuman and something that I pray none of you come across on the internet. I won’t go into detail but a child was runover twice, the car & lorry didn’t stop, people walked by without even helping him and leaving him there to die . I came across it on Facebook because the caption on the post was ‘these F*****ERS NEED TO DIE* – which doesn’t exactly help them or anyone. An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind, a great Indian man once said that. I grew up with Mahatma Gandhi as my rolemodel before the media corrupted my mind with celebrity nonsense. Seeing that video made me realise how much the world has forgotten about love. Loving thy neighbour by love I mean just HELPING a person in need, how can you not? One should always treat others as one would like others to treat oneself. That brings me to my message - do all things with love. 2 quotes, 1 post. Enjoy your day.

I maintain my stance about photography/videography not being about the camera you own. A lot of people seem to think photography/videography is all about the equipment involved in creating the art, yes it does play a big part but the most important factor of all is – creativity. We’re all blessed with creativity, some more than others – you just have to experiment. London-based film maker JW Griffiths certainly displays his creativity in this short film. He filmed it all on the Nokia N8 camera! no fancy pancy Canon Mark II used here, just a regular smart phone camera. He won the Nokia Shorts competition 2011 with this, it’s a beautiful film that focuses on a 2 people’s journey from Paris to London till they meet….fate. You have to see for yourselves. This may be one of the first poems I’ve written that a man has asked me to write and I’ve deemed him worth it. I met this guy through a friend when I first got back to school last year, and honestly, I could tell he was different from the beginning.  Simply because he didn’t hold anything back and not in a crude or crass way either.  He was so open with his feelings towards me from the start – it scared me, it honestly frightened me. Poem and description after the cut.

This summer, I will get into wedding photography on way or another. A couple of great photographers have said they’ll let me assist them on wedding shoots so I can get the jist of it and to see if I can actually hack it. I can’t wait! it’s going to be fun shooting 2 people who are madly in love with each other, capturing the happiness will be fun. Critsey Rowe is a master of the art and she’s always redefined the way it’s done. These are without a doubt the most creative wedding photography shots I’ve seen! so different to many I’ve seen in the past. Who else shoots a couple under water? Madness. More on the reverse.

This is a little random but I just had to share this beautiful short film my other half sent me last night. It’s already a viral hit with over 3 million views in just a matter of days. It’s highlights the key stages in every relationship, where and how each stage develops is ultimately up to each person. Often we can’t avoid the inevitable end, I’m sure you can all relate to this video. It’s funny how strangers become friends and then at the end of a relationship….you become strangers again. It’s 16 minutes long but trust me it touches on something that so many people fail to see and are in denial about. It’s definitely well shot and edited, watch it on the reverse.

It’s funny how this time of year has us re-evaluating our lives. We make real attempts to change ourselves for the better be-it for health reasons, finances or just to try something new. I personally like to reflect on the year gone by so I can fully appreciate how my life has changed and then calculate my next move. It’s a bit like playing chess, I can see where I want to be in future and the many paths to get there but if I look back I can also see the trials and tribulations it took to get this far.
