Oh my God, these photographs are heavenly. As you already know, I’m going to be photographing three weddings this summer and um, I’ve never shot one before?! but I’m really looking forward to photographing happy people. That’s what it’s all about. I know I’m going to need to hire out a telephoto lens and up my game rapidly before then. Lightedpixels are a duo of photographers from Singapore who specialise in couple photography and without a doubt the best I’ve ever seen.  Their photographs appreciate the love, joy, quirkiness and significance of a wedding which enables them to capture remarkable scenes of fun, intimacy, tenderness and love. I’m truly in awe of their talents. Hop on after the cut to see a handful of their shots.

We haven’t featured many wedding photographers on the site in the past, well aside from Chaz Cruz who’s one of my photography inspirations from the time I started a few years back. I actually met photographer Mick Shah through my other half’s friends circle; I say met, I actually watched him host an acoustic night. Little did I know he was a wedding photographer till one stumbled across his Facebook page via a shoot with Martell from the Individualism team. Wedding photography like I’ve said many times before is all about capturing the happiness and love and Mick does that effortlessly. Hop on after the cut for more.

AMEN! I don’t really want to add any words to this post. I just want you ALL to watch and digest – this is dope quote (speech) for the week. With everything that’s going on around us – the corruption, hate, poor economic climate, wars and so on. That list could continue forever, depressing right? Charlie Chaplin was renowned for his B&W silent movie roles but he steps up and delivers one of the most poignant speeches I’ve ever heard in The Great Dictator. This film came out in 1940, scary that this is probably more relevant to current times. More on the reverse.

Absolutely blown away by the final product, @OlanCollardy has out done himself. We teamed up with the up and coming film maker again to shoot renowned poet Joshua Bennett. I was initially going to hold back from posting the video till I was done with the feature with interview and photographs but this is just too good not to share. Meeting the Striver’s Row word-smith was an honour itself and actually get him to recite a poem for us – even more of an amazing! I think we were all in awe of his talent; made it look so effortless, the words just so honest & delivered with raw passion – it may just leave you in tears. Ladies & Gentleman, click play to watch the latest Cardy masterpiece. Way too many quotables from Joshua, I’m sorted for my next love letter to my girlfriend.

Downloaded onto my retinas. Hoping that I can replay that moment our eyes first played freeze tag.

Over the past week or so, we were tasked with the unenviable job of selecting our three favourite movies of the year. After much deliberation, we managed to succeed! It’s prudent to say that this is not tantamount to a ‘best of 2011’ list, of which there are many. Rather, these are films which the Y&Y team have enjoyed over the course of 2011. See if you agree with our choices below.
