This is honestly one of the best episodes to date. The 2nd episode ever to be set in our wonderful city and it features Storm Freerun founder Timothy Shieff. Anyone who knows a thing or two about Parkour will know he is the sh*t. This dude is insane, you see those jumps you do in Assassin’s Creed on your PS3? He does it in real life and makes it look effortless. It’s crazy! his upper body strength and balance are incredible, a true master of his art. Combined with Maestro’s videography and storytelling skills, it makes for a beautiful and somewhat inspiring watch. Part of me wanted to jump over a few fences and buildings on the way to print my dissertation today but I decided not to. It’s something we should leave to the pros kids! This episode right here has been in the works for a LONG time. Last week, completely unplanned I got to shoot Tim and his friend Jan while in London. Usually when I compile my episodes I’ll start cutting sequences together to a song and that’ll be that, done deal. Well, with this piece it went a little different. I cut selects and laid a song just for reference and it was so perfect that I didn’t imagine I would replace it until I played this Public Enemy over it. I take pride a lot of times in combining things that rarely would come together in another medium. When I watch this and listen to the lyrics it actually makes perfect sense and surprisingly brought tears to my eyes a few times. This lifestyle, these videos, the stories that I tell….sometimes the thought of it becomes mundane but the fight never does. Through being hassled, sterotyped, misunderstood, or whatever the struggle may be, the message remains loud, we are continuing to love the way we live and to live the way we love. There’s a lot of time, energy, and heart put into something that becomes great.

I’m forever inspired by Levi. He symbolises what we’re all about here at Y&Y – fashion. music. art.  I’m really grateful that I got to meet him in London last year, a real visionary and is someone who knows exactly what he’s doing in life. Anywho, this episode features his acclaimed producer Hit-Boy. Ya’ll will know him for Lil Wayne’s Drop The World, Kanye‘s Christmas in Harlem and more recently Pusha T’s My God. This episode was a lot of fun to make. Me & Hit-Boy met up several times in the past couple weeks, NYC to LA to IE. Anywhere we are, the same thing goes, hard work & good energy, that’s the ill way to get things done. It’s real cool to see someone my same succeed in a completely different field, audio & video are obviously two completely different things but often depend upon each other. This a special edition of Levi Maestro‘s hit internet show Maestro Knows, why? because it’s the first episode that hasn’t been shot and edited by himself. Footage from last summer in Tokyo & NYC features Daichi Ito, Nigel Sylvester and 13th Witness. Daichi has to be the funniest and most positive Asian dude I’ve ever seen, his laugh is hilarious. ‘Levi is weird…sometimes….I am weird too’. Gawd, the Nigel Sylvester segment made me feel like I’ve achieved nothing as he’s only 22 and already on his way to becoming a legend. LOL at 13th Witness mimicking Banksy.

In this special episode of Maestro Knows we take to take a trip with Levi in front of the camera speaking on a few of his close friends. This is what I love about Maestro Knows. He has introduced me to various inspiring people over the past year that I would have never heard of if it wasn’t for the show. This episode features NBA‘s number one rookie, Tyreke Evans. They head out to EA Sports to test out the new NBA Jam game on the wii, then to a court where Tyreke tries to teach Levi how to slam dunk.  Tyreke also asks Maestro why he’s called Maestro, it’s the first time anyone has ever asked him that on the show. Even I forgot to ask him that when I met him, I just assumed it was his name!

In this episode follow Maestro & Tyreke on an off day in Los Angeles as they head to EA Sports for some NBA JAM and then out to the court as Tyreke tries to assist Maestro’s efforts toward his long awaited slam dunk. The duo then takes to Venice Beach to check out Elite 24 as Maestro speaks on Reke’s b-ball achievements.

If you’ve been reading the site from the start then you will know how much Levi Maestro has inspired me. Also if you peeped that dope documentary on Influencers the other day, then you’ll know he is exactly the type of the young influencers they described in the video. Maestro released a teaser for this short film a couple months back if ya’ll remember. He’s been working with Team Need For Speed to document their journey for speed and drifting and likening to the unique process of film making. It’s fascinating to watch how crazy drift drivers are, mad men. You will be surprised by some of the similarities told by Levi. Maestro jumps in the passenger seat of Mad Mike Whiddett and Matt Powers. They kill it softly with speed and as always video on the flipside.

Been wondering where Levi Maestro has been for the past month or so? Well he came back this week with the final 2 episodes of this season’s Maestro Knows. The first features Tyrone Davis, I have no clue who this guy is or what he does. It’s a flashback episode back to NYE of 2010. The season finale features the dopest chick in the NY’s scene, Va$htie Kola. I’ve featured her on the site before, check out the episode after the cut. His story is dope. I’m still at the early stages of my story, one can only dream of being as successful as him in an year’s time. One thing he says in the video describes one of my characteristics: ‘always strive to be better‘ I’m never satisfied with what I’ve done, even the site. I feel I could have done a lot better.
