This morning I woke up to news that a song featuring my three favourite artists had been dropped online. I’ve never jumped out of bed so fast, I don’t think even a fire could get me ripping my duvet off of me so quickly! The Kings of Rap, Kanye West and Jay-Z today released, “Otis” sampling soul legend, Otis Redding – Try A Little Tenderness! The song opens with a slowed down version of Otis Redding’s huge hit, before being sped up and cleverly switched into a chopped and looped sample. Jay-Z reminds us he “invented swag” on the first 8 bars before passing the mic onto Kanye warning those he adopted “Phillip Drummond ‘em” (Different Strokes) that have been “talking reckless” of the pair are about to have their Summers “tucked in”. And they most certainly are, I hope that no artist managers are planning to release their rappers albums in the same WEEK as “Watch The Throne“! Short, catchy verses from each rapper to-and-fro throughout the track remind me of an old school clashing session. Continues on the reverse.

For those who follow me on twitter (if you don’t then you should be) then you will have seen me tweet that I am #NowPlaying Jhene Aiko many times this past week. I have played certain songs from here mixtape everyday this week, I’ve been blasting her tunes so much that my neighboughs probably know the words to the songs by now. I only came across her after reading about her on ThatGrapeJuice so shout out to them for putting me onto her. Since I have been put onto her I feel that it’s only right that I introduce you all to her too so everybody I present Jhene Aiko.

After speculation that Kanye West is set to debut a clothing line for the female form it has now been confirmed. Kanye will be collaborating with Central Saint Martins graduate Louise Goldin. The fact that he is working with the London based graduate just goes to show how well traveled and cultured Kanye is. Louis Wilson the professor over at CSM spoke to the Guardian about the collaboration, find out what he had to say after the break.

It was just 5 years ago that the world was introduced to Big Sean. A very young ambitious Detroit native trying to get buzz on his music, his Detroit player swag, and put his city on the map.  After convincing one of Rap’s biggest artist that he was perfect for signing with a quick 16 bar freestyle at a local radio station in his hometown. Sean landed himself a record deal with G.O.O.D Music and Def Jam. Under his new home of a label he released a series of mixtapes entilted “Finally Famous“.  Creating a huge fanbase of folks fascinated with his Detroit player swag, clever rhymes, one word punchlines, and style. With massive praise on the tapes, this called for something bigger — an LP. And an LP is what we got. On 28th June Sean made it known that he’s set make his mark in the game and possibly be what Beyonce is to R&B, Big Sean can be to rap. Album review and favorites on the reverse.

Quick post before bed. I’m ill, don’t ask how/why/where because I have no clue. My first day off in a fortnight and I spend it moping around about being ill haha. I stumbled across a new set of photographs by 13th witness that brightened up my day though. It did make me a little sad that I wasn’t able to leave the house and get my camera game on – it’s been a while since I went on a proper photography trip around London. I need to bring back some of that LDN.365 magic, these 13th witness photographs have inspired me. He definitely showcases the talent that he has been blessed with! right off to hibernate for a few hours, let’s hope I’m sickness free in the morning.

Music has been off the radar on here for a few days and by now y’all should know that I love me some MUSAK! (yes spelt like that on purpose). Yesterday saw the release of a previously unreleased track from Kanye West taken from his My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy sessions. He had previously performed the song during the time he was going around performing for corporate bosses i.e. the head honchos over at Facebook however the track didn’t end up on the final tracklisting for the album. Have a listen to the track entitled Mamma’s Boyfriend on the flipside.

After my little show of concern regarding Beyonce‘s new album 4 and the songs that have entered the public domain thus far (see here) comes the leaking of this album track entitled ‘Party’. The song which features Andre 3000 is by far my instant favourite out of all the material that I’ve heard so far. The song delivers refreshing laid back 90′s vibe which can only lead to good things as music was at its best in the 90′s, shout out to Kanye West for doing a great job on the production. Take a listen to the track yourself and let me know what you think. P.S the new album is out June 28th so make sure you go and support.
