J.Cole today dropped the visuals for his self-produced, debut single “Work Out” from the long-awaited album “Cole World: The Sideline Story” due for release on September 27. The Paula Abdul/Kanye West sampling track pays homage to J.Cole’s basketball roots and features enough eye-candy for Kanye himself to even be jealous of. Check out the visuals after the jump.

It’s been a while since my last post, I’m mostly out of the matrix these days well at least trying to. With Yin and the rest of the team otherwise preoccupied I thought it was time I got the loyal Y&Y readers caught up on what light-skinned Jermaine was up to. If you’ve been paying attention to our newly revived Eargasms series you’ll see the North Carolina native is pretty hard to miss right now. See what content Mr. Cole’s been releasing on the net recently when he’s not on stage opposite Nas or on set in Barbados with Trey Songz and Rihanna after the cut.

29th November 2010 – the date of the last Eargasms post, a weekly post which I started during the first week of Y&Y‘s launch. I had to give it up as the post took 3-4 hours to construct and I just didnt’t have that time any more with university so the post series was eventually locked away into the Y&Y b. It’s time to wipe off the dust and bring it back in a new format. 5 of our favourite songs from the week, each song hand picked by a member of the family. Let’s get things started then, hop on after the cut.

Smart move J. Cole camp. They realise that the Cole’s marketing hasn’t been the best till now, in fact it’s been awful. His debut album needs to get the sales that it deserves, we all know musically it’s going to be the sh*t. So it’s a nice move from Cole’s camp to start a web series giving us an insight into the life of the Fayetteville rapper. Have a gander at the first episode on the reverse, the part with the American vs Canadian thing is jokes! His friend reminds me of a young Mike Epps in Next Friday. Look forward to seeing more from this series, I’m guessing the next episode will be based in London?

YES! #ColeWord. The commute to work today = horrific, the best part of it was Friday Night Lights blasting through my headphones. J. Cole went in with that mixtape and I’ve been waiting for new music ever since. The long awaited first official single from J.Cole’s forthcoming debut album has leaked. It samples Kanye West‘s ‘Work It Out’ and it’s effin’ dope. It’s definitely keeping me awake at work, head bopping at the desk whilst I write this post. Coffee doesn’t come close to the effect good hip-hop has on me, only caffeine I need this morning. Well I didn’t want to walk to Benugo in the rain to get my regular caffeine fix haha. Listen to the song after the cut.

COLE WORLD. Roc-Nation signee J. Cole performed a live session at BBC’s legendary Maida Vale studios. He performs his first single ‘Who Dat’ and ‘In The Morning’ which is the song off his recent mixtape ‘Friday Night Lights’. The track also features Drizzy Drake. I’ve said this so many times before but I honestly cannot wait for this guy’s album. He is Hip-Hop right now, Premeditated Murder and It Won’t Be Long still get daily plays on my iTunes – #motivationmusic. After the cut for the video.

Over the past 3 days, I have had to endure seeing numerous Facebook, Twitter and Blackberry Messenger statuses about everyone’s excitement to see Drake at Hammersmith Apollo. Fair to say I was green with envy because I couldn’t go! I tried a lastminute.com type swoop for tickets but £100 plus £50 booking fee for general admission tickets was extortionate to say the least. I am a Drake fan but that’s pushing it!
