A rather delayed Video Jukebox this week, apologies folks! I can hold two nights of D’Angelo live at Brixton Academy fully responsible for this one! This week M.I.A. re-defined the phrase ‘making an entrance’ with two rather controversial music videos hitting the web. I decided to ignore the Madonna & Nicki Minaj video…it’s boring, full of advertising (Nicki’s adi-breasts) and poor M.I.A. & Nicki only get a small feature at the end. Plus her video for ‘Bad Girls’ is way cooler! Miguel and Day26 have their eyes set on the fast-approaching Valentine’s Day with their new R&B-smooth videos. There’s also some Hip Hop from Pharoahe Monch, Blu, The Quaranteam and a fan-made video for The Throne’s anthem track, “Ni**as in Paris”! Enjoy, and I promise I’ll be on time for our breakfast date this Saturday!

Video Jukebox episode 3! This is going well, I’ve received some positive feedback on this weekly post and I’m starting to even receive requests (even though it was from Yin haha) so that makes it all worth the 3 hours it takes me to write this (alongside some pondering) This week I’ve picked quite a random bunch from pop-trash Ke$ha (I promise you it’s good), nu-rave 14th, some corny R&B from Carl Thomas, Hip Hop from ItsNate, Overdoz, Mikill Pane and the Bakery Boys, soul from the lovely Iman Omari and last but no ways least, some thought provoking poetry from Dean Atta! Hit the jump to check the visuals, and enjoy :-)!

Welcome to the first episode of Video Jukebox, a weekly post where I’ll feature my favourite music videos of the week I’ve stolen the name from one of MTV’s first ever feature shows and thank goodness I’m not famous enough (yet) to be sued for such blatant trademark infringement. Video Jukebox aired at a time when MTV was just about showcasing the latest videos from the top talent, providing a platform for both the musician and the team behind the video to shine – that’s before they started providing a place for Teen ‘Moms’, Trailer Trash, Airheads and Pornstars to shine. So in an ode to what MTV used to be about and what Yin&Yang is always about (showcasing dopeness basically) here we go, the first ever ‘episode’ with visuals from Mark Ronson, Tyga, tabi Bonney/Terri Walker, GLC/Rotimi, 14th, Iggy Azalea, Clement Marfo/Kano, Phonte and Chiddy Bang. Hit the jump for the goodies!

Entrepreneur, marketer, pop culture revolutionary and now author, Steve Stoute sits down with Jay-z for the first in his new series of interviews brought to you by the Huffington Post. Throughout the interview series, Steve Stoute will be sitting with icons, featured throughout his book, “The Tanning of America” where he discusses how that particular icon utilised the tanning effect to get where they are today and how it continues to change the world. Yin previously recommended Steve Stoute’s book, “The Tanning Effect” and his short interview series with the likes of Pharrell, Lady Gaga, Jay-Z and Jimmy Iovine; here well-respected media outlet, The Huffington Post has jumped on to release longer, more in-depth interviews with each of the influencial icons. Hit the jump to hear Jay-Z talk on Watch The Throne, the global impact of Hip Hop culture, the Glastonbury/Noel Gallagher incident and being an unpaid spokesman for brands such as Cristal.

Detroit’s finest, producer Black Milk and rapper Danny Brown hook up to release a joint ep, aptly titled “Black and Brown”. If you are unfamiliar with Fools Gold signee, Danny Brown, then I must warn you his lyrics are most certainly not safe for work! Famed for his grit, profane, sexually explicit content laced with one of the most distinguishable voices in Hip Hop today, Danny is raw! An old-school flow and attitude, placed over innovative, futuristic production from Black Milk make for an interesting, unusual Hip Hop ep. Hit the jump to stream two of today’s uncategorisable musicians. Yes I made that word up! Black and Danny are the new school!!
