Now after how many years I can officially say that the highly anticipated J. Cole album was most definitely worth the wait. The album is kicked off with an Intro, which begins with Jermaine Cole reminiscing on the day he was signed and drifts into is a very subtle composition where he raps about finally making it to this point. Now if you know anything about Jermaine Cole he’s the first signing to the Roc Nation label by Jay-Z himself. For the longest time I’ve been an avid follower, listener and fan of J. Cole, from his first mixtape ‘The Come Up’ Cole had many people in awe of the concepts he addressed from there to now, this album clearly shows the transition and you can see and hear his growth on his released album.

Oh here we go, I struggled to get out of bed, felt like I had a crazy Thursday night like the girl above. I don’t know what it’s about Fridays, just can’t get up! #fidead. Though seeing my timeline swarmed with music bloggers posting links to the Weeknd‘s latest mixtape – Thursday makes me happy. I’m actually looking forward to the commute into work now. It’s always kind of dead on the trains, perfect for some relaxing R&B. *Sings in falsetto* not a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday but a Friday. Mixtape on the reverse.

For those who follow me on twitter (if you don’t then you should be) then you will have seen me tweet that I am #NowPlaying Jhene Aiko many times this past week. I have played certain songs from here mixtape everyday this week, I’ve been blasting her tunes so much that my neighboughs probably know the words to the songs by now. I only came across her after reading about her on ThatGrapeJuice so shout out to them for putting me onto her. Since I have been put onto her I feel that it’s only right that I introduce you all to her too so everybody I present Jhene Aiko.

Jojo has been MIA for a while trying to figure out some issues with her label but in the midst of all the drama she has recorded and finished her third album. So new music from her is coming our way very soon, and the anticipation is growing even more so after the great job she done on her remix for Drake‘s ‘Marvins Room’ song. I’ve always like her so this track is just a song that I like. Whether or not it would have been a hit or not is I haven’t decided.

I haven’t been able to post properly over last couple of days, which has meant I haven’t been able to update y’all with the latest music that i’ve been encountering. During this brief moment of internet access I have decided to write a few posts specifically music related. This first post is for all you Weeknd lovers. The Weeknd caused a stir in the music industry when they released their House of Balloons set with the song What You Need becoming a firm favourite of mine but I think I told you this before. Anywho I stumbled on a few unreleased tracks from the Canadian based musicians including a track believed to be featuring fellow Canadian star Drake, however I personally don’t believe it is Drake. Give the tracks a listen after the cut.

I’ve been trying to rack my brain to think of any other time that I know of when British music and British artists enjoyed so much success not only at home but overseas as well. When I say British music I am talking predominately about British “Urban” music. It seems as though America has run out of new, fresh and innovative creative ideas and are now turning to Britain along with the rest of Europe for inspiration.
