In this new era Chris Brown has been releasing music left right and centre. We’ve had three mixtapes In My Zone, Fan of A Fan and In My Zone 2 with another to be released in the next few weeks. On top of this we have seen the release of his fourth studio album F.A.M.E which has gone on to be a huge success. With him offering up so much free music to us in the past its a shame that a new song that was intended for his next album Fortune has leaked her im not gonna lie i’m kinda glad it did. The song shows a more grown up mature side to Brown. It’s a song for the ladies but not his regular sex driven ballad but a more emotional appeal to a woman’s heart. Here the song on the flipside.

It was just 5 years ago that the world was introduced to Big Sean. A very young ambitious Detroit native trying to get buzz on his music, his Detroit player swag, and put his city on the map.  After convincing one of Rap’s biggest artist that he was perfect for signing with a quick 16 bar freestyle at a local radio station in his hometown. Sean landed himself a record deal with G.O.O.D Music and Def Jam. Under his new home of a label he released a series of mixtapes entilted “Finally Famous“.  Creating a huge fanbase of folks fascinated with his Detroit player swag, clever rhymes, one word punchlines, and style. With massive praise on the tapes, this called for something bigger — an LP. And an LP is what we got. On 28th June Sean made it known that he’s set make his mark in the game and possibly be what Beyonce is to R&B, Big Sean can be to rap. Album review and favorites on the reverse.

It’s not often that I talk about any member of the Jonas Brothers but today I have to give a shout out to Joe. Today saw the debut of his brand new solo track entitled ‘See No More’. Why would this interest me or you for that matter you may ask, well this song is kinda good. It is completely different from anything you may have heard from the Jonas Brothers who I would consider to be soft rock music or whatever. This track is straight up urban pop and was co-written by Joe himself and comeback king Chris Brown. Finding out that the song was written by Brown made so much sense because it does actaully sound like a song he would record. I may be over excited by this track simply because of how shocked I am about the direction Joe has chosen to head for his solo record so i’ll listen to the track in a weeks time to see if I still like it. Until then listen to it for yourself and let me know what you think.

Karmin

posted in other by DJB

I think by now we all know that I love me some Nicki Minaj so when I came across this cover of one of her songs I knew I just had to post it. Married couple Amy and Nick make up the youtube sensation that is Karmin. Under this guise they have posted many videos of themselve covering the songs of some of our favourite music artists. They have become so popular that they have performed covers on the Ellen Degeneres show and on air with Ryan Seacrest. Having first come across their Minaj cover of Super Bass I then continued to watch them take on Lil Wayne, Chris Brown and more. Peep a few of their covers after the break, notice the Questlove from The Roots is in the Super Bass cover.

Chris Brown is this weeks feature however it is a track from his latest album F.A.M.E that i have selected. Honestly I have two tracks that immediately spring to mind but i’m only going to post the one, who knows maybe in a future SWC i’ll post it if it hasn’t been released. As this song is taken from his current album there is still a possibility of it getting a release however due to its explicit nature I find it and unlikely event. ‘Wet The Bed’ is a perfect example of the growth that Brown has made. Obviously when he first hit the scene we didn’t expect such a song s he was still a minor but as he has grown in age his music has too which is a good thing. Trey Songz sings about sex in nearly all of his songs yet for some reason hasn’t yet made many tracks of this nature that can rival this song or a previous sex related song from Brown tilted ‘Take You Down’. As Brady mentioned in his F.A.M.E album review (see here) this song is a grown up version of Take You Down, take a listen below.

I know i’ve already posted a music video today but I feel the need to post this as i have played this song about 6 times today and have grown to like it a little bit more each time it has played. This week is turning out to be rather eventful for Chris Brown with the release of his 4th studio album F.A.M.E and the media stories surrounding his recent outburst after his Good Morning America appearance. On top of all that has been going on he and his team have not forgotten about his fans and have released the visuals to his new song ‘Beautiful People’. Check it out when you read on and be sure to read our album review of F.A.M.E (see here)

I’ve been trying to rack my brain to think of any other time that I know of when British music and British artists enjoyed so much success not only at home but overseas as well. When I say British music I am talking predominately about British “Urban” music. It seems as though America has run out of new, fresh and innovative creative ideas and are now turning to Britain along with the rest of Europe for inspiration.
