The series of photographs that you are about to see are what I would like to class as DOPE! As you know we here at Y&Y are very keen on shooting our own lookbook’s and take every opportunity to showcase our own photography talent so i’m just gonna put it out there, one day we’ll shoot a lookbook that can rival the way this one has been shot. I’m more admiring the photographs rather than the garments Lanvin have on offer which is not the purpose however If the photographs have made me feel something strong enough to post and share them with you all today then I guess the campaign has done it’s job.

Hahahaha PAUSE. I’m a little creeped out by the latest advertising campaign by highly controversial Italian retailer, United Colors of Benneton. The campaign titled ‘Unhate‘ wants the world to stop hating as simple as that. They’ve photoshop‘d photographs featuring some of the world’s most powerful men and women kissing each other – apparently this was aimed to foster tolerance and spread ‘global love‘ with everything that is going on in the world. I’m sure the retailer hoped the images would be seen as symbolic images of togetherness and resolution through love. Lies! I’m sure they knew what they were getting into with this. Obama kisses Hugo Chavez while Israeli Prime Minster and Palestine President lock lips amongst others. As always they did take it that one step too far with an image of the Pope kissing the Egyptian Imam which they were forced to take down. You don’t want to eff with the Vatican, have you not seen Angels & Demons!? Haha. More after the cut.

Rick Genest – Dermablend’s Clever ‘Go Beyond The Cover’ Campaign
posted in advertising, other by YinThe ‘tattooed freak’ as many people love to call him. I don’t know his story and neither do you so we have no right to pass such judgement. Anyhow, his tattoos do scare me slightly with all the symbology and darkness. Ever wondered what he looked like before all the tattoos? Well Dermablend have teamed up with him to promote their professional coverage cosmetics which covers up all his tattoos with a natural skin tone. Crazy. He looks different, a stone cold looking human being. Makes me wonder what his story is, what led him to do this to his body? Dermablend make full use of this with a clever viral video. Watch this on the reverse.

You might have been seeing these pages in the metro over the last few months, spreads featuring former smokers who have overcome their addiction. The campaign has been put in place to help people quit smoking by inspiring them and proving to them that it is possible to quit smoking. On the website and on their facebook app you will find a range of success stories as well as a free guide with tonnes of info regarding smoking, what it does to you and how to quit. I think this is a great campaign because it’s very empowering, its great to see people who are genuinely proud to overcome something that is essentially an addiction that is capable of shortening your life expectancy. If you are a smoker and/or know someone that smokes and want to know more about help available to help quit, it might be a great idea to check this out.

Gosh I miss posting about advertising. Do you guys remember my adspiration posts? It was something I did throughout university, whenever I came across a clever and innovative campaign I’d break it down on here. I came across this clever anti-binging campaign by Byturen. I always wonder if drunk people would still drink if they watched their antics on video, you don’t like yourself. Alcohol helps you lose self-control, morals and everything you stand for if you abuse it. This campaign shows us both sides of a young woman’s night out; one she’s sober and the other she’s drunk. The interactivity allows the depiction such events in a cool way – you need to scroll over the video to see the gross drunken side of the girl. That’s how most of you look like when you’re drunk, you just don’t know it yet. The contrast is amazing and I like how they’ve incorporated it using a rollover in flash. Have a gander at the campaign here. I can’t embed it, bit of a load time at the start but worth it. Have a gander.

LOL is what first came to mind when thinking of how to start this post. However my laughing doesn’t come with negative connotations, in fact it’s quite the opposite. Lanvin have released a video campaign to support their 2011 Autumn/Winter Collections but they haven’t given us the typical take fashion brand type of video but instead showcase their clothes in a fun light. Normally when I watch these expensive/luxury fashion brand videos I often think that they take themselves way too seriously but with this it’s completely different. Steven Meisel the man behind the lens has managed to inject life and familiarity with this video (this may be due to the accompanying song). Often I feel these videos alienate your average highstreet consumer but this has great mass appeal. Have a look and tell me if you agree.

Yang posted the latest Wrangler campaign posters here a few weeks back. Now the video for the campaign has surfaced and just like the posters, it certainly will WOW you. The campaign is all about ‘stunts’. It’s full of stunt men and women who are natural daredevils and willing to do almost anything leap frogging off through windows to being lit up. Madness I say but hats off to these people, the only time I jump out of window is if theres a real fire in my bedroom. Even then I’d probably throw my mattress through the window first, a cushioned landing for me thanks. Check out the video on the reverse.
