Timeless music should definitely be celebrated. Alicia Keys’ breakthrough album ‘Songs In A Minor‘ is one of those LP’s that never gets old. Songs such as ‘Fallin‘, ‘If I Ain’t Got You‘ and ‘Women’s Worth‘ are classics that will always be remembered. It has been 10 years since the release of the album which sold an incredible 11 million copies worldwide. Alicia Keys is celebrating the 10th anniversary with a intimate one-off gig at Royal Albert Hall in London on Monday 13th June. The gig will consist of just Alicia Keys and her piano! So cool.

Tickets are most probably sold out but if you really want to go I would check if there is still some available. If you cannot make it there is a consolation. Be sure to buy the deluxe and collectors editions of the album that will be released on June 28th. The deluxe and collectors editions is a 3 disc collection that includes previously unreleased and original bonus material, a specially created documentary and special packaging. As of Thursday 31st of March you will all be able to register for free tickets to Radio 1’s Big Weekend. The event will be taking place in Carlisle, Cumbria on the 14th & 15th of May 2011. You can tune in to Scott Mills on Radio 1 from 6.30am on Thursday for more information.

Registration opens Thursday and will close on the 7th of April at 7pm, but it won’t matter whether you register on the first or the last day. There are 10,000 pairs of tickets that will be given out for each day. Last year around 480,000 people applied for tickets so demand is expected to be high this year as well.

However even though tickets are random, those who live in Carlisle, Cumbria and the surrounding area, including the Scotish Borders and North East of England, will be favoured. This is due to the local area always being given preference each year, as was the case with last year in Bangor as well as previous years, Swindin, Maidstone, Preston, Dundee and Sunderland. Therefore a smaller amount of tickets will be allocated throughout the rest of the UK.

As I mentioned above, last years event was held in Bangor with performances from the likes of Florence & The Machine, Dizzee Rascal, Alicia Keys, MGMT, Example, Tinie Tempah to name just a few. The acts were spread out on four different stages and I really admire the setup with the stages. There is the ‘Main Stage’, ‘In New Music We Trust’, ‘BBC introducing stage’ and the ‘Outdoor Stage’.

This years main stage includes acts such as the Foo Fighters, Lady Gaga, Black Eyed Peas, Jessie J, Bruno Mars, The Script, Katy B, My Chemical Romance and The Wombats to give you just a few names of who to expect should you be lucky enough to win tickets.

I feel like I haven’t written one of these in a while so instead of posting on a Tuesday, which is normally the designated day, i’ve decided to post this a day early. Don’t you just hate it when an artist and their label make plans to release a song that you really wanted to see get a release and they even shoot a video for the track but for some reason plans change and the video never sees the light of day. Well that is what happen with this track, It would have been a perfect song during last summer and the pictures from the set of the video looked amazing. Will we ever see the video for this song? who knows but i certainly hope so. Currently a new album is scheduled for this year so i’m guessing not. To know who and what song i’m talking about you’ll have to read on.

2010 has come and gone and as the previous year drew to a close a whole host of people made lists of their favourites/Top 10’s from the year be it in music, TV or film. I personally find it to hard write top 10 lists so I thought I’d take the idea and put a different spin on it. Instead of listing my favourite songs I will highlight a few that caught my attention for one reason or another. 2010 has seen growth and maturity materialise in me and this has allowed me to appreciate things I never before would have done including music. Diversity is the keyword of 2010 in terms of where I’m at with music. The story continues after the cut.

While sitting here writing this the first song that comes to mind comes from an artist who I never once before paid any attention before the this past year and I’m sure many others would say the same. It seems like Plan B shot out of nowhere and stormed the charts but this wasn’t the case. Although I never paid attention to him before I did know that he had a previous album back in 2006 which consisted of him rapping called Who Needs Actions When You’ve Got Words.

2010 he came back with a new album and a new sound which lead to major success. His song ‘She Said’ became his highest charting single when it reached #3 and it was a good introduction to his new sound but its this next song which has caught my attention the most. I don’t know what it is about ‘Love Goes Down’ but I just love it.

The next two songs come from artists who both released debut albums last year with both being ridiculously highly anticipated. Each of them featured on each others’ albums and I’m sure we will hear more collaborations between the two in the very near future. Nicki Minaj and Drake both have seen great success come their way and it doesn’t seem like they are about to let up going into 2011.

‘Fly’ featuring Rihanna and ‘Shut It Down’ featuring The-Dream are both currently album track as they haven’t been released just yet but I wouldn’t be surprised if both were soon to be given single treatment. In fact I believe Nicki may have confirmed that she is to shoot a video with Rihanna for ‘Fly’. Anywho here they are for you to listen to now.

Now for something a bit different. As I’ve said last year became the year of diversity for me and while I have kind of always liked different types of music in the past I would keep it on a low. No longer do I need to do that because I have grown up, if I like a song I’m gonna say that I like it and not care what others think. Scouting For Girls caught my ear this year with their lead single taken from their album Everybody Wants To Be On TV. It’s obvious that I’m not the only one who had a feel for this song as it got to #1 on the UK chart. ‘This Ain’t A Love Song’ is a catchy tune, give it a listen.

Its time now for a song that it one of many that can be placed on my why do I like this song list but like it I do. Cali Swag District came up with a song that has a signature dance to it similar to Soulja Boy’s ‘Crank That’ however I do think that this song is slightly better. Even celebs are on this dance craze both Justin Bieber and Chris Brown have been seen nurmeous times doing the dance, the latter has become quite renowned for doing it as he is pretty damn good. Dance music has had a major wave of mainstream success this past year with most artists now taking upon themselves to make records that are heavily influence by that sound. This had transpired into what we now know as Electro Pop. Think Ke$ha, Lady Gaga and even Usher with his most recent releases ‘OMG’, ‘DJ Got Us Falling In Love’ and ‘More’.

Back in February Kelis released ‘Acapella’ the first single taken from her dance inspired fifth studio album Flesh Tone. The single really set the tone for what we could expect from the album but it wasn’t until she released the second single that I decided to pay attention. ’4th Of July (Fireworks)’ is a fun solid track.

I could ramble on for days and write 4 novels but I think it’s time to end the post here. Overall 2010 was a good year for music and a good year in particular for British based artists think, Tine Tempah, Labrinth, Plan B and Jay Sean.

In 2011 I would like to see some British females hold it down like the guys did in 2010 and with the emergence of Jessie J and Yasmin in the latter stages of last year things look positive. Im not one for saying that Britain has the best music because for many a year it has been complete crap however last year was a very good year.

Alicia Keys and Eve hit the studio again to record ‘Speechless‘ as part of Swizz Beats‘ weekly Monster Monday. I haven’t been keeping up with this one.. I’ve only ever heard the Estelle track and the Dirty Money track. I like this song because it’s quite chilled and it features Eve.. I like everything that features Eve. The tunes reminds me a little bit of Alica’s earlier songs such as ‘Rock Wit U‘ one of my favorites from her library. Today is recognised throughout the globe as World Aids Day, a day used to raise awareness about the aids pandemic caused by the spread of HIV. The Keep a Child Alive campaign headed by our girl Miss A. Keys is just one of many charity organisations seeking to raise money. This year’s theme is ‘Digital Death’ whereby your favourite celebrities will digitally die (meaning no more Twitter and Facebook traffic) and the only way to revive them is through your donations which go directly to the charity. The aim is to raise approximately £1 million which will be used to provide treatment, love and support to families affected by HIV and Aids.

The Keep A Child Alive website holds a lot of interesting facts and information about the illness and how you can help raise awareness and also donate funds. Check it out here and if you want more detailed information and ways to interact in the UK check out the official worlds Aids Day website here. If donating online isn’t your thing many major retailers across the UK will also be selling the official red ribbon that you can pick up for a very small fee to show your support. So lets tackle the HIV prejudice that is still very much alive in the UK and lets get our celebrities back on our favourite social networking sites so that we may once again stalk their lives :).

I can’t stand em…yet these are the wannabe Gucci boys which feel the need to approach me. Now, I have very little patience, infact I have absolutely none at all. I can’t bear to be ignored and I absolutely refuse to not get what I want at all times! Spoilt? No…Special? Undeniably! For this reason I need connections. I don’t queue, I don’t pay and I most certainly don’t arrive before 1am. In fact, I just don’t understand why I should wait, patience is no longer a virtue, but merely a simplified word for procrastination!

Last Thursday I received a phone call from a so called promoter…inviting me down to the Alicia Keys after party at Merah. Obviously I accepted this invitation, only on the terms that it was strictly VIP!

However this “promoter” took this as an invitation to completely smother me for the entirety of the night. The term cock-blocker couldn’t even describe this guy. The little bitch would just appear from no where, whenever I was approached by another guy! I’m sorry your not my man…keep moving. I’m a big girl and can most certainly handle myself. Fact.

Right so this guy was seriously beginning to piss me right off! The little bitch didn’t even offer me a bloody drink for the whole night, there I was severly dehydrated, whilst he was sipping on another man’s champagne. Erm what’s wrong with this picture? Miss Keys made a brief cameo, she left, which was also my que to leave. I had, had just about enough of this guys face and was ready to tell him to fuck right off, when he offered both me and a friend VIP, access all areas to Trey Songz. It was then that I decided that I would attempt to bite my tongue for a couple more days. Bearing in mind that this boy was doing everything that annoys the shit out of me!

I made a swift exit, hoping that the leech wouldn’t ask for a lift home…but of course he did! And of course I said no! I’m sorry do I have mini cab written in the back of my car?! I think not! However you got here is how you need to get home, simple!
