Lenny Kravitz has put out a total of 9 consistent studio albums his latest ‘Black and White America‘ which hit the shelves a couple of months ago, is easily my favourite album in a very long time. It isn’t brand new material I know and I should have reviewed it but I didn’t! After the break I present 3 valid reasons as to why I think you should purchase this album!

Now after how many years I can officially say that the highly anticipated J. Cole album was most definitely worth the wait. The album is kicked off with an Intro, which begins with Jermaine Cole reminiscing on the day he was signed and drifts into is a very subtle composition where he raps about finally making it to this point. Now if you know anything about Jermaine Cole he’s the first signing to the Roc Nation label by Jay-Z himself. For the longest time I’ve been an avid follower, listener and fan of J. Cole, from his first mixtape ‘The Come Up’ Cole had many people in awe of the concepts he addressed from there to now, this album clearly shows the transition and you can see and hear his growth on his released album.

22-year-old Travis Tatum Mills who is more commonly known as T. Mills released his free album ‘Leaving Home’ under Colombia records back in July, but it’s only recently I’ve become aware of him after hearing single ‘Hollywood’. The track, which features Colin Munroe, prompted me to download the 10-song cd.

At first I questioned why Chris Brown added ‘Deuces’ to the album as it had been officially released as a single on June the 25th 2010 and was available on his ‘Fan of a Fan’ mixtape since May last year. However on second thought I found it appropriate as he’s moved on from a very low point in his career and is saying deuces to all the haters. Waving his goodbyes, but not showing any hate as the albums title stood for ‘Forgiving All My Enemies’ (F.A.M.E.), but just recently CB said he wanted it to be closer to his heart so changed it to ‘Fans Are My Everything’.

I’ve been a fan of The Streets since I hit my teen years and first recognized good music, back in early years of high school watching “Weak Become Heroes” on MTV2 before school. For those that don’t know, The Streets is a moniker for Mike Skinner; a creative rapper/producer if I had to choose who his more famous counterpart who you all would have heard of, I would liken him to Kid Cudi in the sense that his lyrics are a lot more personal and have meaning (most of the time) and he does this with eclectic sounds. After the cut catch his last album – Computers and Blues and his other creative offerings.

Woii. Jessie J‘s album is almost here, just over 2 months to go till it’s unleashed. I for one cannot wait, I’ve been a fan of hers for a while now and I look forward to hearing all the studio versions of all the live rips in my iTunes library. I wonder what her version of Chris Brown‘s ‘I Need This’ sounds like, it’s one of my favourites off his Graffiti album. Great photograph and styling definitely matches up to her personality. It’s all very Mystic Meg haha. One thing I don’t like is the typography for ‘Who You Are‘, it’s not that visible. Sorry I’m a picky designer. Peep the complete tracklist on the flipside.

Fearne Cotton said on Thursday night at the Brit Launch 2011 “The Brit awards are the greatest music event of the year”. Not to sure I would agree with that one. The nominations were announced that night for the award ceremony that happens on the 15th of February, and there were performances from some of the nominees. One performance came from 2010′s breakthrough boy band, The Wanted, who are up for ‘British Single’ for their number 1 song ‘All Time Low’, which was the bands debut single. I like the group, as they are believable in everything I have seen from them so far. They come across as genuine to the audience I think. However after watching them Thursday night they do need to work on their stage presence and performance. All in all though I like the 1st and 2nd single, ‘Heart Vacancy’, and I believe they should be around for a while.
