You know how I raved on about Joe & The Juice being mine and my other half’s favourite chill out spot, well I think we’ve just discovered our new one. I was first tipped off about MADD by one of my friends and me being a Keralite, certainly loved the idea of a Mango-based dessert place. From the exterior MADD may look like your regular funky Soho joint but it’s more than just a pop-in/pop-out joint. I don’t exactly know how to describe the experience, they call it the dessert lounge. It most definitely has a relaxed vibe to it, perfect for dates, meetings and to just chill. More on the reverse.

18 years to the day: Cool Runnings released October 1, 1993

I wasn’t old enough to understand at the time, but I would hazard a guess that the idea of a Jamaican bobsledding team would have sounded strange to most people. Essentially, we’re talking about people who leave their homeland, a country where it’s hot almost all of the time, to go and race a bobsled down some ICE?! Suffice to say, you wouldn’t find me doing it. And yet, Cool Runnings comes through the chequered flag in flying colours, resulting in a film which is still enjoyable to watch to this day.

I have been careful not to include any spoilers in this review. However, if you wish to know absolutely nothing about this film, skip to ‘Any Last Words?’ at the bottom of this page. Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy is not your typical spy film. You won’t find Gary Oldman’s George Smiley engaging in fisticuffs with evil men, or saying a cool line after offing a villain. Action has been replaced with words – a lot of words – resulting in an absorbing, if at times slow-paced, whodunnit of a film which unfolds in meticulous fashion.

Recently we paid Baity kitchen a visit, a small restaurant based in South Kensington. Boasting a bright Mediterranean theme, the menu spans a great range of salads, pastas, grilled fish, lamb or chicken and tasty deserts. Read the full review after the break.

Gah, I honestly didn’t want to share this gem with anyone but that would beat the point of Y&Y since we’re all about introducing our readers to new things that we discover. Numerous people have stopped me in recent weeks asking where I purchased my two-finger wooden ring from and my response would be ‘India‘. In truth, I purchased it online from a London-based wooden accessories maker, Ollie Adegboye. More on the reverse.

Let’s take a moment to laugh at my serious farmer face. I decided to hop in front of the camera for a change as I needed new photographs for a design I’m working on, promise it has nothing to do with my narcissistic ways. Big thank you to Katy of Aphrodite for sending us this lovely Barbour jacket to shoot. I should have written up this post last night but my brain was dead from working a 9 to 9, never work from home. It’s hard to concentrate with all the distractions haha. Plus the campaign I’m working on is coming out REAL SOON. Digressed a bit into my life for a second, Barbour have collaborated with Japanese designer Tokito Yoshida who has reworked the brand’s famous quilted jackets to give it his own touch with a focus on durability and ergonomics. I was a bit apprehensive about going to Ed’s Diner after work on a day in which I woke up early to work out and even ate a healthy lunch. A meal at this 50′s themed American diner is strictly an eatery you go to once in a while, for health reasons. The food is nice but if you’re trying to stay fit and healthy – this definitely isn’t the place for you. Double the work out tomorrow. This our first review conducted primarily using iPhoneographs (I’m coining words like Shakespeare). Continues on the reverse.
