Oh my God, these photographs are heavenly. As you already know, I’m going to be photographing three weddings this summer and um, I’ve never shot one before?! but I’m really looking forward to photographing happy people. That’s what it’s all about. I know I’m going to need to hire out a telephoto lens and up my game rapidly before then. Lightedpixels are a duo of photographers from Singapore who specialise in couple photography and without a doubt the best I’ve ever seen.  Their photographs appreciate the love, joy, quirkiness and significance of a wedding which enables them to capture remarkable scenes of fun, intimacy, tenderness and love. I’m truly in awe of their talents. Hop on after the cut to see a handful of their shots.

Ever taken photos on Instagram and thought to yourself ‘whoa, that would look good as a fridge magnet’?… indeed we all have. Well you’re in luck as courtesy of Mint Digital, ‘StickyGram’ allows you to do just that. StickyGram is a printing service that allows you to submit your Instagram photos for printing onto a cool personalised fridge magnet, they come out in the best quality possible at 50mm x 50mm (same size as original instagram photos). Also worth mentioning: as promo for the launch of StickyGram on Android, a black cab with a mosaic of instagram magnets on it’s roof was sent around London.

Imagine my shock when I was sent the image you see above… *spits out drink* it’s not ‘Omlette Du Fromage’!? Funny story actually, I discovered that attempting to retell this episode of Dexter’s Laboratory to anyone who hasn’t seen it, makes you look/sound retarded. Anywho, one of the writers of ‘Pleated-Jeans’ blog put together a compilation of images designed to spark that very reaction (of drink spitting). Some are quite funny, others are a bit dead, but a little bit of trivia never hurt anyone… aside from the ‘omlette du fromage’ fiasco… that hurt a little. There are also references to other childhood shows like The Chipmunks, The Lion king and Arthur.  There are more after the break, check them out!

King Lear is the most powerful individual in the Kingdom looking to retire from his royal duties. In order for his Kingdom to thrive long after his reign, he takes it upon himself to determine who will gain the majority of his Estate. However, in order for King Lear to do so, he must see which of his three ‘devoted’ daughters is the most deserving. They must all pit against each other to declare which of the three loves him the most. Enraged by Cordelia, his most favoured daughter’s straightforward, non poetic response, he rewards both Regan and Goneril his Kingdom, but is this for the best?

Everybody is a photographer, or a least that’s what Instagram will have you believe. Over 27 million users on the iPhone alone are in current use of the app with that number hitting well over 30 million when you include android users. The next logical step would be to own an actual Instagram camera rather than just the app right? Well ADR Studio have gone along with this belief and have gone ahead and designed/produced this concept design. The have turned the Instagram icon into an actual camera called Instagram Socialmatic. Would you buy an Instagram camera? Peep more pics and camera specs after the cut.

Shelley Jones is a photographer/film maker, currently working as a freelancer in London and most importantly a friend of Y&Y. Found her through that ‘Space Hoppers in Venice’ video on one of my random vimeo viewing sprees and have kept myself updated on her work ever since. I think it’s safe to say that we’re all quite intrigued by Shelley’s work, more so her concepts and inspiration, so I thought it would be cool to do a mini interview with her. You can have a read of it and see some of her work after the break.

I stumbled across this video a few days ago, it’s definitely a must watch for those who have just recently bought their SLRs or have never been able to switch modes from manual. Really irritates me when I see people shooting on auto mode and their inbuilt flash pops up in broad daylight – why?! Personally, I’ve never been able to understand all the terminology nor had any photography lessons to understand all of them, it’s all about practice. LDN.365 was my practice field – taking a camera around with me for 365 days and playing around with all the settings was my lesson. Photographer Matthew Gore has taken it upon himself to create this simple video explaining “The Three Basics of Photography” which all comes down to how your SLR is able to manipulate light into getting the best photograph.
