Before we get started, my other half is writing this post. I’ll let her take over….
Here’s a bit of a random question for you: do you think your birth certificate is just any old piece of paper? Think again – and then seriously re-think that…again again. There are 75 million young girls all around the world born without a registered birth certificate. Sadly, these girls are often forced into pre-mature marriage and/or are denied the right to a proper education. PLAN UK is fully breaking the mould of charity fundraising with their latest ‘Because I’m a Girl’ campaign. Last week saw the launch of a pretty amazing and truly thought-provoking next generation interactive video app on Facebook, which puts you – yes, YOU in the shoesies of these less fortunate girls.

Heard of Aurasma? It’s the world’s first visual browser. Bet that doesn’t mean anything to you guys – it’s a piece of software that utilises your smartphone camera, GPS, bluetooth, WiFi/3g and combines this with image recognition technology which helps create a conceptual understanding of the 3D World to recognise objects which can seamlessly augmented reality actions into the scene. My friend and his co-workers over at Billington Cartmell have exploited this innovative technology and incorporated Aurasma’s interface so that it recognises the 3D surface of the bottle and plays back exclusive video content from artists Plan B, Tinie Tempah, Yasmin and more. Each of the artists designed their own limited edition bottles and the Aurasma ability gives the smartphone user the option to watch the ‘making of’ documentary with a simple touch of the screen. Incredible! Guess where this is? LONDON. Reebok teamed up with artists 3D Joe and Max to break the Guiness World Record for the largest ever 3D Street art, why are they doing this? To promote the launch of the CrossFit which is a revolutionary strength and conditioning programme. They created this epic painting in a week at London’s West India Quays in Canary Wharf. Luckily for them that place is only really busy on weekends…when it’s warm. They’ve laid out several of the CrossFit workout of the day equipment across the 1,160.4m² artwork so anyone can take part in the daily workout as they walk by. Watch the video on the reverse.

Hahahaha PAUSE. I’m a little creeped out by the latest advertising campaign by highly controversial Italian retailer, United Colors of Benneton. The campaign titled ‘Unhate‘ wants the world to stop hating as simple as that. They’ve photoshop‘d photographs featuring some of the world’s most powerful men and women kissing each other – apparently this was aimed to foster tolerance and spread ‘global love‘ with everything that is going on in the world. I’m sure the retailer hoped the images would be seen as symbolic images of togetherness and resolution through love. Lies! I’m sure they knew what they were getting into with this. Obama kisses Hugo Chavez while Israeli Prime Minster and Palestine President lock lips amongst others. As always they did take it that one step too far with an image of the Pope kissing the Egyptian Imam which they were forced to take down. You don’t want to eff with the Vatican, have you not seen Angels & Demons!? Haha. More after the cut.

I’m sure a lot of you have seen his work in the past with the Roots and Absolut Vodka. Danny Clinch is one of the most respected photographers in the industry. He originally made a name for himself in the music scene by photographing the likes of Johnny Cash, Tupac, Bjork and even Bruce Springsteen. You name a publication, Danny’s work has most probably been printed in it. What I want to highlight in this post isn’t any of that, we’ll save all that for another post. I want to showcase his videography skills, which are exceptionally good by the way. More on the reverse.

Some Sunday giggles for all those working in the ‘industry’. If you’re working at an agency/worked at one then you can RELATE and fall off your chair in laughter because most of this is true. This was actually created by Big Orange Slide which is a blog run by the good folk over at GRIP limited – such an amazing way of PRing yourself. A blog that solely focuses on dope infographics, the typography and copy are immense. Do check out their website. I’ve been inspired, especially since I’ve been placed in charge of my work place’s website. Which I really should get a move on with…infographic on the reverse.
