If you follow me on Tumblr then you’ll already know I have a slight love affair with jets. So this movie is right up my street, it is first movie in over 15 years from Lucasfilm not associated with either Indiana Jones or Star Wars! The movie revolves around the Tuskegee Airmen, the first group of African American combat pilots to serve in the U.S. military during WWII, starring Cuba Gooding Jr., Rhodey Terrence Howard, and Bryan Cranston (from Breaking Bad or more commonly known as “Malcolm’s Dad”).
First of all apologies this post is a day late and secondly no this isn’t a festival all about me, I wish! But this is a free 3-Day festival dedicated to all Jazz Music fans in London featuring the likes of Femi Temowo, Gwyneth Herbert and Jay Phelps Big Band with Clare Teal & for the first time this year is Jazz On The Screen; a series of stylised documentaries shown on the big screen in Canada Square Park in collaboration with Rich Mix. Now this is what imagine what would happen if the guys behind Move. Learn. Eat. slowed down a bit and hung around a city for longer than a second! Filmed by Next Level Pictures this well executed short showcases the culture found in Brooklyn set to the tone of some dubstep by Skream. Slightly reminiscent of the Lucozade Sport Lite ad form earlier this year.
It’s been a while since my last post, I’m mostly out of the matrix these days well at least trying to. With Yin and the rest of the team otherwise preoccupied I thought it was time I got the loyal Y&Y readers caught up on what light-skinned Jermaine was up to. If you’ve been paying attention to our newly revived Eargasms series you’ll see the North Carolina native is pretty hard to miss right now. See what content Mr. Cole’s been releasing on the net recently when he’s not on stage opposite Nas or on set in Barbados with Trey Songz and Rihanna after the cut.
So on my quest to find what I’ve missed out on the passed couple of weeks I found a series of videos of Y&Y favourite Mr. Aloe Blacc. Not only is this session arranged to live classical instruments but the “I Need A Dollar” Crooner does a hauntingly beautiful rendition of the late Micheal Jackson’s “Billie Jean” watch the session filmed at Made in Berlin in its entirety and a documentary about the process after the jump.
