YES! Finally, iMessage has arrived for the Mac. This is a great news for me, I’m not very fond of typing on my iPhone. Auto-correct and my lack of touch screen skills make it hella difficult to type on there, much prefer the full QWERTY keypad on my Blackberry. iPhone is my social networking phone; has all the functionality in the world. iMessage isn’t BBM – at least I don’t think that was Apple’s aim and definitely not the way I use it anyway. However I do like having the option of replying to my iMessages/texts via my mac; instead of pausing what I’m doing, picking up the phone and typing a message out, all I have to do is type it out on here and click send. Simples. More on the reverse.

Apple also took this opportunity to unveil the OS X Mountain Lion. The next OS system, I’m not going to go into too much detail but it’s looking pretty sweet. The migration of mobile features onto OSX is the best thing about it, will definitely help a lot of people’s work flow. Full break down of both iMessage Beta and Mountain Lion below:
• Send unlimited iMessages to any Mac, iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch.*
• Start an iMessage conversation on your Mac and continue it on your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch.
• Send photos, videos, attachments, contacts, locations, and more.
• Launch a FaceTime video call and bring the conversation face-to-face.
• Messages supports iMessage, AIM, Yahoo!, Google Talk, and Jabber accounts.
iMessage works brilliantly for me. You’ll have to ensure your iCloud is turned on and that your contacts are synced otherwise it might take you a while typing in all your contact details to the address book. Who used iChat anyway? ANCIENT.
In other news, I just bought myself a new iPhone cover. About time I replaced my Gear4 case with something a little more stylish and surprisingly it’s from American retailer JCrew. Bought it for $5 + extra $10 for shipping but that’s all good, still a reasonable price. I know folks are all camo everything these days, this is about as CAMO as I’ll go. Buy the wooden version here.
Apologies for the lack of ‘creativity’ in these shots. Thanks to my flu, I’ve been glued to my new sofa chair office in front of my tri-screen setup. Gah, working from home is not the one.
