Weekly Wisdom - It’s good to be blessed. It’s better to be a blessing.

Yin Eats is back! After a long festive and first week of work madness hiatus, I’ve finally started having lunches that require to explore around the area near my work again. My Geordie colleague (@JenMeant) who is wannabe a fitness/health freak  treated me to lunch – we were initially going to go to Yo! for some sushi but that’d break the Yin’s Life rule of trying out somewhere new. After a good 10 minutes of food spot hunting, we found Yog. I’ve always been fond of frozen yoghurt but never thought I’d eat it for LUNCH. More on the reverse.

The place was empty, you would think that’s a good reason for the staff to be friendly and polite, right? Wrong. The woman was unwelcoming and then when I pulled out my camera to take a few photos of the spot. ‘Don’t take any photos of me’ Err.. ‘and it’s against our policy, no photographs inside as concept might be stolen’. I’m sorry but isn’t there a Froyo, Snog, Pinkberry, Yuforia in the same area code? That’s exactly what I said to her, it’s a common concept. She had nada to say that #sitdown. She didn’t even help us with picking our toppings, nothing at all. Ah well.

Yog is made from fresh, organic, British skimmed milk:Frozen yogurt in the US often uses powdered milk. Yog is not reconstituted from powder and have they even teamed up with a British dairy farmer so they have a regular supplier of fresh milk and can maintain the quality.

I guess that’s what makes it unique but how on Earth was I going to photograph that when the yoghurt comes out of a machine? Cha. Anyway Let’s talk food.

I opted for the passion fruit frozen yoghurt base with 3 toppings – granola, MANGOES (because who doesn’t love big juicy exotic mangoes?) and some strawberry/raspberry paste. Tasted delicious, flavoursome and slightly tangy with the passion fruit and mango combination. Beautiful. Shame it was a little too cold for me to finish! I can’t believe it doesn’t contain many calories, is completely fat free and still quite filling. It’s a shame about the customer service, wish it was better as I’d definitely return for more Yog.
