The Autumn/Winter collection may be too grandmother-ish for some people’s tastes, but a return to the forties era of un-adulterated glamour and discretion would be a welcome change from the acres of not-so-lean bare flesh currently on view on the reality runway – the British High Street. Back in the day, of course, women would’ve worn stockings with their broad-shouldered, inverted-triangle jackets and most likely a discrete-but-very-sexxy pencil skirt, but bare legs and high-heeled sandal booties sporting sparkledust, gave the look a definite 21st century twist. The mink-swagged shoulders and hips of the Autumn/Winter Collection is inspired and is definitely a look that will translate easily to the High Street, where a touch of faux fur is just the sort of fashion detail that will catch on – especially when teamed with the blown-up coin purse clutches.
