Bernie sees Director Linklater re-united with Jack Black and Matthew McConaughey to tell the strange but true story of Bernie Tiede, assistant funeral director and stalwart community member in Carthage, Texas. Linklater’s familiarity with and affection for small-town Texas life shines through, and his novel approach includes using a chorus of townspeople to give credence to Bernie’s saintliness.
As special guests of American Express, the winner and their companion will be invited to pre-screening drinks at an exclusive West End bar before taking their seats at one of the capital’s finest screening venues.
American Express supports the BFI in bringing some of the best in world cinema to the UK. At this year’s Festival there will be a number of exciting events on offer including UK film premieres and a series of Screen Talks featuring notable actors and directors talking about their work.
