J. COLE
Oh man, you guys have definitely got to get the album. The temptation of the leaked copy was a little too much for me so I downloaded it instantly, haven’t RINSED it yet as I’ve been holding back to get my hands on the physical copy. I have a bad habit of downloading leaks and then rinsing songs beyond the point of listen. J. Cole‘s lyricism and realness is still there, the production = another level. It’s what makes this album. Mainstream hip-hop album of the year for me so far.

YASMIN x SHY FX x MS. DYNAMITE
I finally found something like, a collab by Yasmin, Shy FX and Ms Dynamite. Firstly I think as ever, Shy FX did a great job on the production- the beat is infectious and if you disregard the reggae influence it sounds a lot like Yasmin’s ‘On My Own‘. I like Ms. Dynamites addition to the track, it reminds me of her earlier tracks- infact the song reminds me a little bit of her era. I think Yasmin’s vocals, though quite soulful, sounds a little bit flat in some areas on this one, but it kinda works with the underground feel of the song. The track is said to drop as a follow up to Yasmin’s Finish Line.

VV BROWN x CHIDDY BANG
VV Brown has been off the radar for a lil while. We’ve only really seen her in the M&S adverts alongside Twiggy, Lisa Snowdon, Ana Beatriz Barros and Danni Minogue and will continue to do so even though they decided to freshen up their line up as if it was X-Factor freshening up the judge’s panel.
The song isn’t the greatest thing I’ve ever heard but its still good enough in my opinion to warrant a place in today’s Eargasms. The song for some reason reminds me of the ‘Chain Hang Low’ by Jibbs. Anywho I digress, Brown’s deep and soulful vocals are a nice contrast to the nursery rhyme chorus and Chiddy’s laid back B.o.B esque style of rapping. What do y’all think of the song?

DAUGHTRY
I’m not to big of a rock fan just yet but as my musical taste continually diversifies I’ve noticed that when I do indeed find a rock song pleasant to the ear it usually comes in the form of the generic radio friendly rock-pop song. ‘Crawling Back To You’ fits that formula much like their song ‘Home’, which I also loved.
As with most of these tye of songs it starts off quite soft and acoustic-ish and then bursts into action during the chorus’s. it is this formula and type of rock song that is slowly inducting me into the clutches of becoming a bonified rock lover. I’m not gonna lie I still love my bashment, hip-hop, r&b, house and funky too much to ever fully convert.
