Weekly Wisdom - We are not meant to be perfect. We are meant to be whole.

Cristiano Ronaldo falls into the category of marmite. You either love him or you hate him. However for anyone who doesn’t like him but loves the beautiful game for all its power, skill, goals and drama-it will be difficult to deny that Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the best players in the world and perhaps to have ever played the game. Big statement, I know, but after watching this documentary on Ronaldo being tested to the limit, you may actually agree with me. I have always respected Ronaldo as a player but my respect has multiplied greatly after watching him put under a microscope for a series of intricate tests to determine why exactly he is a cut above the rest. I’m not going to lie, looking at his flawless bod was part of my entertainment too obviously!! YUM. Check the documentary on the reverse.

The innovative documentary presented by Castrol Edge and hosted by Andy Ansah, shows a series of tests designed to measure Ronaldo’s footballing skills, strength, agility and mental toughness. However this is not just any ordinary display of a footballers skills where they turn up and do a few kick ups. This is state-of-the-art sports science tests with an intriguing level of attention to the details which involve performing at the highest level.

The results of the tests are jaw-dropping in the context of football. Ronaldo has 3% less body fat than a supermodel, possesses greater explosive jumping ability than the average NBA basketballer and has the mental sharpness ability of a genius. The mental sharpness test was one of the tests that blew me away.

Ronaldo has cameras connected to his eyes that record where he is looking the ball is at his feet. The test involved him using skills to beat Andy Ansah and it showed Ronaldo  subconsiously looking at the spaces around Andy to get round him rather than looking at the ball. This meant he was accurately predicting where Andy Ansah was going to move before Ansah knew himself! Note taken, I need to try this.

The other test to mention was one where Ronaldo had to score goals in the complete darkness shortly after the ball was played in the air. Ronaldo consecutively judges where the ball will be in the dark and scored on all 3 attempts. On the last attempt he judged where the ball would be in the dark and scored with his shoulder! Is he serious?? This guy is clearly a different kind of breed. It is probably why he remains the highest ever goalscorer for one season in both premiership and La Liga. Check out the documentary.
