Location
If you don’t really know the Kensington area then there is a chance that you may have minor difficulties trying to locate the restaurant. However it is the 21st century people and Google maps is your oyster!! So even though it’s not the first thing you see coming out of the station, it’s still accessible. Baity’s Kitchen is in the middle of a peaceful area surrounded by bars and designer shops. I can imagine that all the locals’ know this place. Closest station to the restaurant is South Kensington which is on the district and Piccadilly lines.

Decor and service
Well I was expecting a really posh interior because of the location but it’s not very posh at all and that’s one of the restaurants’ good points. The decor is very homey, very basic, nothing fancy for once it’s just about the food. It’s quite a small place; it reminded me a little bit of a café in Italy. The service was also really good, the waiters are very friendly and helpful with choosing dishes for us to try etc..
Food
Like I said, this place is about the food, the portions are a lot (good value for money) we had a mixture of salads to start with, these were: Greek salad which included: tangy feta cheese, sundried tomato, black olives, red onions and lettuce. Red and White Cabbage Salad with Sweet Chili and Coriander Dressing. A bit of a salad frenzy there, but it was amazing. I’ve had plenty of Greek salads in the past and they’ve usually been dry and tasteless. I can confirm their salads are freshly made with marinated ingredients, very authentic.
For mains, the Lamb Kufta a slab of grilled marinated lamb topped with green and yellow pepper and bacon- salad drilled with dressing. We also got the Baked Abuergine with a tangy tomato sauce along with two scoops of cream. The lamb was very well marinated and thankfully it’s not a huge plate as we were still reeling from devouring the salad combo! The meal didn’t come with any sauce so it was slightly dry to eat so we added some of the sauce from the other plate… hopefully not disrespectful to the chef but it needed sauce. The Aubergine was a totally new dish to me, I was quite impressed only I didn’t particularly like the sauce very much. I thought the cream complimented the meal and toned down the strength of the sauce so it’s great that it is included in the meal. We also tried some traditional Japanese green tea which was unexpected but very nice and refreshing after all the food.
Verdict
I think if you’re a vegetarian then this will be your paradise, all of the food is freshly made and many of the dishes taste just as good without meat. I have no intention of becoming a vegetarian myself but if I ever did I would definitely come here. I didn’t think it was possible but after the Greek Salad I was actually full… So if you’re in the Kensington area and fancy a nibble, I would head on down to Baity Kitchen. The food Is really authentic and it’s well worth the price with a very reasonable portion of Greek Salad going for around £7.
