Yesterday officially marked the end of my summer as I once again entered university doors to begin final year. Throughout the year we’ll be visiting London’s museums, exhibitions and galleries as a class, and I’ll be sure to post about them. Term doesn’t actually start until next week, but in the meantime our tutors recommended that we head to Bankside Gallery to check out the current exhibition by Edward Hutchison, ‘The Art of the Landscape Architect‘, which celebrates the importance and interdependence of fine art with applied design in the creation of contemporary landscape. Edward Hutchison’s watercolours and drawings form an essential part of his design process, exploring his responses to site conditions and seeking out a successful design solution in partnership with computer drawings.

Today I had the pleasure of interviewing Ralph Pelleymounter who is 1/5 of new folk/rock band To Kill A King. As well as reading the below interview Yin & Yang has an exclusive first showing of the 3rd video to be taken from the bands ‘My Crooked Saint’ EP, ‘ Family’. The video follows on from the previous two singles ‘Bloody Shirt’ and ‘We Used To Protest/Gamble’ which you can also see here. As you know we changed hosts this week so we haven’t been able to post, so once again instead of Throwback Thursday we’re doing a Flashback Friday. This week’s tune marks the death of a hip-hop superstar who go’s by the name of Notorious B.I.G, Biggie created one of my favourite songs of all time and that would be ‘Hypnotised’. We’ve chosen ‘I’ll Be Missing You‘ as this weeks throwback tune, a classic, remixed to honour a legendary rapper. Enjoy

Topman launched their latest side venture – a trendy concept store in the heart of London’s Shoreditch district. I’ve yet to visit it myself but the vibe of the store is pretty cool with the bare brick walls and general NYC-esque vibe to it with the furnishing. The space will act as a social hub and fashion destination for those in the local community. The selection of clothing in this initimate place looks very limited but at the same time I quite like how it has been displayed. They store features edited selection of key Topman pieces, seasonal project collaborations with a handful of branded items and limited edition artwork/books. Deep breath. Wow. I’m impressed, I wasn’t expecting too much from this collection and rarely am I impressed by womenswear as it simply does not interest me. VOGUE Russia and a few other sources have given us a little peak into the upcoming collection. I’m definitely liking what I see so far; the bright colours, bold prints, leather studded pieces, bodycon dresses and more. However my favourite piece has to be one of the menswear pieces OBVIOUSLY. There haven’t been many leaks of the men‘s collection but the best one out of the lot has to be of the studded leather jacket. I’m sure I can work with it, the studded features are a nice accessory – now I wonder what the quality is like, we’ll see when it launches in November.
