Damn running late with the post this week. I’m ill again – don’t ask. Weak immune system and folks around me keep spreading the lurgies. H’annoying. Hop on after the cut for this week’s musical goodness. We’re spreading the gospel to your ears.

VANJESS
‘Headlines/Thinking Bout You (Drake/Frank Ocean Cover)’
Two young (Nigerian) girls from California brightened my week up with this cool mash-up cover of Drake‘s Headlines and Frank Ocean‘s Think Bout You, two of August’s biggest songs! Jess plays the keyboard and beatboxes, whilst her sister Van lays the vocals down on this original, catchy track. I’m gonna need to rip the audio from this song asap, the switch from Drake to Frank…and then how they merge Drake in again at the end of the song…risky, but most certainly wonderful!

DALEY
‘Smoking Gun’
I KNOW this song has been out for a fortnight now but I have a feeling a lot of you have overlooked the mixtape. It’s definitely the best piece of music I’ve heard from a male UK singer in a long time. Daley‘s mixtape was certainly worth the wait, so soulful. Perfect for a Sunday. Have a listen to one of my favourite songs above and download the mixtape over at Daley.TV

ERIC ROBERSON x PHONTE
‘Picture Perfect’
It’d be hard to go wrong on a collabo between the seamlessly soulful Eric Roberson and Foreign Exchange frontman Phonte. Erro tells his beau she’s “Picture Perfect” on this gorgeous cut lifted from his forthcoming LP.

INDIGO CHARLIE x JusTT&GifTT
‘Cool Love’
Indie-soul newcomer Indigo Charlie and Cali rappers JusTT&GifTT deliver an easy-listening, floaty summer jaunt with “Cool Love”.
Indigo, who used to work as Solange Knowles’ PA, emerged on the scene in late 2010 with the brooding “Never Change”. A stark contrast from her last two online releases, “Cool Love” transports you back to a psychedelic era of yesteryear. Check out the visuals to this one to see Indigo channelling some serious Diana Ross vibes.

‘I Won’t Go Back’
Only just downloaded the song off iTunes and I’m blown away already. It’s a powerful gospel song and today is a Sunday so it’s only right I feature it. I don’t think any other genre comes close to the harmonies and melodies you find in gospel songs; it’s overwhelming, touching and full of soul. Happy Sunday folks. Enjoy eargasms.
