Maybe I’m late but if you haven’t heard of the Genius Scan app then you should know. My manager showed me this useful iphone app that allows you to scan documents as PDF files and send via email, twitter etc.. It’s very quick and easy plus it automatically enhances the image so it looks exactly like it was processed through a scanner. What’s more, the app is free however if you’re affiliated with storage apps then you can go for the Genius Scan+, which will enable you to share scanned documents on evernote, google docs and drop box. It’s quite a useful app, it works very quickly (faster than most scanners) plus the enhancement is spot on- I would reccomend it. Head to the iTunes app store after the break for more info including how to purchase.

Ah this is lovely promotion from Westfield for their new Stratford mall which is set to open in 2 weeks time. They’ve created a viral video (hasn’t gone viral yet but give it 24 hours) that focuses on 100 years of East London style in 100 seconds. Sept 13th 1911 – Sept 13th 2011 – the day and month mean nothing in terms of style but that’s the day when Europe’s largest mall opens. Watch the video closely, it’s nice watching how the styles change over the years and a lot of fashion does recycle itself. The dance and music changes work well too. The video was shot over 4 days and directed by Jake Lunt. The editing is on point, peep it on the reverse.

I already purchased items for my Autumn wardrobe in July, not to be one step ahead but out of necessity…  darn British weather! For a little pick-me-up give your wardrobe an instant upgrade with ASOS, who have this Autumn‘s key pieces down to a T. Make sure you know this season’s It bag (colour-blocked and structured btw) from the new shoe height (we’re talking knee-high, not heel high); which accessory will be having a party on your arm (clue, it’s colourful and cozy); to the new knock-out jewellery that’s turning heads. As every style-savvy girl knows, the devil’s in the detail, so start piling on those accessories. Shop this season’s must have accessories here.

Backpacks are without a doubt my favourite type of bag as they are by far the most comfortable type to carry. For me personally, equallly balancing the weight between both your shoulders means avoiding the excruciating shoulder pains. Win. I’m sure you’ve all noticed the past year’s trends of nice canvas bags, well I’m bored of them. It’s become too common with all the high street retailers recreating their own ones and the vintage ones popping up everywhere. More on the reverse.

About a month ago I stumbled across an image of Q-Tip at the 7th Annual Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival in July. I spend a lot of time reading concert reviews, watching live performances and looking at event photography and I honestly do not think I’ve ever seen a photograph from an event before that conveyed so much energy, well maybe I have – but the photo really stuck in my mind. I found out the photographers name was Mel D Cole, checked out his site – became a little obsessed with his images and inspired by his hustle, and then decided to hit him up for an interview. Luckily he was visiting London for a week in August, and so we arranged for me to catch up with him and ask a few questions backstage at The Root’s show. Hit the jump to read what photographer, Mel D Cole had to say.

I was on my way to work and noticed this lavish structure glistening in the distance, and it happens to be a brand new hotel from ALoft an American company. It has to be said the building is gorgeous form the outside and from these shots it seems the decor is very colourful and vibrant giving the four star hotel a youthful and trendy vibe. With 252 rooms and a range of amenitites including the “XYZ Bar”, ALoft will quickly become a popular stay no doubt. More info after the break
