We shot these before we went to rome but you know the drill, work and other stuff gets in the way! These here are two pairs of boots from the Timberland Spring 2011 collection. The Counterpane Loafer and the Counterpane Zip Chukka are both top quality pieces from the seasons collection, both a brown shade with a suede finish. Read the review after the cut.

Brand History
Originally founded as The Abington Shoe Company in 1952, the company soon established themselves as one of the top manufacturers and retailers within the footwear sector. As of 1973 the company became known as the Timberland Company due to the rising popularity of the brand name “Timberland”- the shoe the company is typically known for. As the company grew, they began to add to their library producing lines for clothing and accessories including bags, watches and a women’s range. In recent times Timberland have acquired many brands expanding their empire and focusing on producing top quality and fashionable collections.
Location
we shot this around the Greenwhich Maritime Museum, a great location which I think we’ll revisit for future shoots. The sun was beaming so it was a perfect day to do this, plenty of natural lighting. There’s some green area as well as a courtyard and a some pillars which now reminds me a little bit of Rome! We tried to be abit more experimental with this shoot using our surroundings for inspiration- we even used old crates and other resources as apparatus but we couldn’t quite execute the plan well enough but there is always next time!
The Shoes
The collection is a summery one, Timberland produce shoes that are top of the range in terms of quality and these are no different. They are very durable with a unique shape, pure full grain leather with a premium suede finish. The colour of the shoe is a dark brown but the texture of the suede finishing gives it a more rugged and contemporary look. The Counterpane Loafer (Worn by Yin) is a lowcut shoe great for casual attire, the texture is very soft- it feels quite flexible meaning they’re are really comfortable to wear. Only drawback we found is due to the wooden base, they are very slippery. Yin wore these shoes with a dark green pair of slim fit jeans, perfect because they sit right on the shoe.
The Counterpane Zip Chukka are a pair of boots a little higher than the loafers with a zip down the side. The boots are also dark brown full grain leather with a suede finishing except they’re quite rigid- this is not to say they are uncomfortable to wear. I think these compliment a smarter attire because of the rounded shape. I teamed mine with a pair of Topman chinos in a “Rusty Red” colour costing just £28 and a white and grey check shirt- a simple summery look and a good way to dress down the boots.
