For the last three days I have been completely in my element whilst attending the Kick & Screening soccer film festival in TriBeCa, New York. Obviously due to my football background and love for independent film, it is safe to say that this festival is right up my street! I have been blown away by all the films, shorts and documentaries and will be dedicating my next few posts to the festival itself and specifically some of the films I have been fortunate enough to see. I feel it is my responsibility to introduce you to the niche area of football in film. Like me, I am sure you will be intrigued. For now I will leave you with the absolutely breathtaking football animations by Richard Swarbrick that were showcased at the festival. It is art at its best! More after the jump

Swarbrick is a director at film production company Hotspur & Argyle. His career encompasses film, editing, photography and graphic design. The animation techniques combined with live action are such a unique way of showcasing the special moments and players in football. The “Bale” animation celebrates the hatrick scored by Gareth Bale at the San Siro v Inter Milan. The “El Classico” showcases the great rivalry between Barcelona & Real Madrid as well as the incredible Messi. I love how the game seems to feel so much more fluid and open in the animation because there are no lines. Anyway, enough of me waxing lyrical- please just watch!
Ciao
